Fredric N. Busch
Fredric Neal Busch (born 1958) is a Weill Cornell Medical College clinical professor of psychiatry based in New York City. He is also a faculty member at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. Dr. Busch has worked to modify psychodynamic psychotherapeutic approaches to target specific problems and symptoms, referred to as problem focused psychodynamic psychotherapy. Dr. Busch has co-written several manuals and articles on focused psychodynamic approaches to psychiatric disorders, including anxiety, panic and depression. He has been involved in research on panic focused psychodynamic psychotherapy, including the first study to demonstrate efficacy of psychodynamic treatment of panic disorder, published in the ''American Journal of Psychiatry''. The Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University is Cornell University's biomedical research unit and medical school located in Upper East Side, Manhattan, New York City, New York. The Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research was founded in 1945. It is part of the Department of Psychiatry of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Panic Disorder
Panic disorder is a mental disorder, mental and Abnormal behavior, behavioral disease#Disorder, disorder, specifically an anxiety disorder characterized by reoccurring unexpected panic attacks. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental and behavioral disorder that can develop because of exposure to a traumatic event, such as sexual assault, warfare, traffic collisions, child abuse, domestic violence, or other threats on a person's life. Symptoms may include disturbing thoughts, feelings, or dreams related to the events, mental or physical distress to trauma-related cues, attempts to avoid trauma-related cues, alterations in the way a person thinks and feels, and an increase in the fight-or-flight response.
