Frederiksberg Hospital
Frederiksberg Hospital is a medium-sized government-owned general hospital located in Frederiksberg, Denmark. It has 380 beds (2005) and an emergency department. The hospital is a teaching hospital for medical students from Copenhagen University. History The hospital was inaugurated 1903 as a replacement for the city's older hospital that had become too small. During World War II, the German occupying power seized part of the hospital, the so-called ''tyske lazaret på Nyelandsvej'', where a number of wounded members of the resistance died in German custody. The hospital grew with the city until 1970 where it housed 1,000 beds. Since then, it has become more specialized and as a result, the number of beds has decreased. The hospital sorts under Region Hovedstaden since January 1, 2007. The Capital Region (Denmark)
The Capital Region ( da, Hovedstadsregionen, ) was the administrative name of the municipalities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg and the counties of Frederiksborg, Copenhagen, and Roskilde. It was replaced by the Capital Region of Denmark ( da, Region Hovedstaden) as an administrative region on January 1, 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform. The new region includes the island of Bornholm (in the Baltic Sea 100 nautical miles from Copenhagen), and excludes the southwestern parts of Greater Copenhagen that were covered by Roskilde County. Gyldendalske Boghandel, Nordisk Forlag A/S, usually referred to simply as Gyldendal () is a Danish publishing house. Region Hovedstadens Psykiatri ( en, Mental Health Services in the Capital Region of Denmark) is a psychiatric hospital with centers spread all around the capital region (Region Hovedstaden) of Denmark, mainly consisting of Copenhagen, northern Zealand, and Bornholm. Hospitals in Denmark are run by the administrative regions which came into effect with the municipal reform on January 1, 2007. Some months later, the psychiatry and somatics were administratively split apart, meaning that psychiatric departments of hospitals would no longer be under administration of the hospital they had been attached to. The five Regions of Denmark ( da, regioner) were created as administrative entities at a level above the municipalities and below the central government in the public sector as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, when the 13 counties ('' amter'') were abolished. At the same time, the number of municipalities ('' kommuner'') was cut from 270 to 98. The reform was approved and made into a law by the lawmakers in the Folketing 26 June 2005 with elections to the 98 municipalities and 5 regions being held Tuesday 15 November 2005. Each region is governed by a popularly elected regional council with 41 members, from whom the regional chairperson is chosen. The main responsibility of the regions is healthcare.
