Clayton Fredericks
Clayton Fredericks (born 17 November 1967 in Moora, Western Australia) is an Australian equestrian who won a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing as part of the three-day eventing team. He currently lives in Ocala, Florida. Fredericks attended school at Wesley College, Perth. He has a daughter, Ellie Fredericks, who was born in 2004. He started riding at the age of eight, riding at showing classes in and around Perth, Western Australia. He first discovered cross-country at the age of 16 when he entered a pony club tetrathlon. He regularly holds coaching clinics in the UK and Europe and acted as Hong Kong's Chef d'Equipe at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea. He has also been named interim chairman of the UK's Event Rider's Association. Marshall Maynard Fredericks (January 31, 1908 – April 4, 1998) was an American sculptor known for such works as ''Fountain of Eternal Life'', ''The Spirit of Detroit'', ''Man and the Expanding Universe Fountain'', and many others. Early life and education Fredericks was born of Scandinavian descent in Rock Island, Illinois, on January 31, 1908. His family moved to Florida for a short time and then settled in Cleveland, where he grew-up. He graduated from the Cleveland School of Art in 1930 and journeyed abroad on a fellowship to study with Carl Milles (1875–1955) in Sweden. After some months he studied in other academies and private studios in Denmark, Germany, France, and Italy, and traveled extensively in Europe and North Africa. Alice O'Fredericks (born Mitzi Otha Alice Frederiksen; 8 September 1899 – 18 February 1968) was a Danish actress, screenwriter, and film director. She is best known for directing the series of ''Far til Fire'' (''Father of Four'') comedies and the series of family dramas based on Morten Korch novels. Having written 38 produced screenplays and directed 72 feature films, O'Fredericks was one of the most prolific directors in Danish cinema. Edmund Fitzgerald Fredericks (–1935) was a lawyer and educator from British Guiana. Fredericks came to the United States to study to become a lawyer, settling in North Carolina in 1903. He graduated from Shaw University in 1905. He became the principal and teacher of the segregated Mooresville Colored School. He worked there until 1917, then moved to England, where he worked during World War I in the War Office. Fredericks became involved in the African Progress Union (APU). Fredericks served as a delegate to the first Pan-African Congress in 1919. That same year, he returned to British Guiana. Fredericks, along with Theodore Theophilus Nichols started the Negro Progress Convention (NPC) in 1922. This organization was meant to assist Black people in British Guiana, and worldwide. Fort Amsterdam was a fort on the southern tip of Manhattan at the confluence of the Hudson River, Hudson and East River, East rivers. He was a professor of literature at Bennington College in Vermont for more than 30 years, from 1961 to 1992. In the late 1940s Fredericks founded Banyan Press, which for decades issued hand-set limited editions by writers such as Gertrude Stein, John Berryman, and James Merrill.
