Frederick Humphreys (athlete)
Frederick Harkness Humphreys (28 January 1878 – 10 August 1954) was a British tug of war competitor and sport wrestler who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, in the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm, and in the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp. He was also a constable in the City of London Police, collar number 970, as were two of his brothers. He was part of the British team City of London Police which won two gold medals in 1908 and 1920 and the joint City of London Police-Metropolitan Police "K" Division British team which won a silver medal in 1912. Fred Humphreys
Frederick William Humphreys (11 November 1907 – 3 September 1967) was an Australian government official and an amateur photographer and botanist whose work culminated in the posthumous publication of ''The Banksia Book'', a book on the flowering plant genus ''Banksia''. He discovered ''Banksia grossa'' in the Stirling Range in 1967. Life and career Humphreys was born in Kalgoorlie. He attended University of Western Australia, where he participated in track and running events. He graduated with a Diploma in Commerce in 1934. He took a position with the Australian Public Service, Commonwealth Public Service in Immigration and Social Services. He later returned to Western Australia as State Director of Social Services. Both Humphreys and his wife Evelyn were keen members of the Wildflower Society of Western Australia.
