Frederick Harding Hale
Frederick Harding Hale (December 8, 1844 – June 14, 1912) was a Canadian lumber merchant and politician. Born in Northampton, Carleton County, New Brunswick, the son of Martin Hale and Hulda Dickinson, Hale was involved in the manufacture and sale of all kinds of lumber at Northampton and Woodstock. He was elected to the House of Commons of Canada for the electoral district of Carleton in the 1887 federal election. A Liberal-Conservative, he was re-elected in 1896 and 1900 As of March 1 ( O.S. February 17), when the Julian calendar acknowledged a leap day and the Gregorian calendar did not, the Julian calendar fell one day further behind, bringing the difference to 13 days until February 28 ( O.S. Frederick Albert Hale
Frederick Albert Hale (December 25, 1855 – September 6, 1934) was an American architect who practiced in states including Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. According to a 1977 NRHP nomination for the Keith-O'Brien Building in Salt Lake City, "Hale worked mostly in the classical styles and seemed equally adept at Beaux-Arts Classicism, Neo-Classical Revival or Georgian Revival." He also employed Shingle and Queen Anne styles for several residential structures. A number of his works are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. He was also known for his singing ability, especially in Denver, where he performed in several theatrical presentations during his time there. Frederick Marten Hale
Frederick Marten Hale (1864 – 2 February 1931) was a British explosives engineer and inventor. After education at the Devon County School and in Brussels, Belgium, Hale worked in hydraulic and fire engineering. He became involved in the design and manufacture of explosives from 1895 and rose to positions at the Cotton Powder Company and the Roburite & Ammonal company. Hale saw the successful use of hand grenades in the 1904–05 Russo-Japanese War and designed his own grenade in 1906. This was rejected by the War Office but during the 1914–1918 First World War it was used by the British Army as the No. 2 grenade. Hale became the predominant British designer of grenades in the pre-war era. He developed the Hales rifle grenade which was exported to several states but did not see extensive use until the First World War.
