Fred Wooller
Fred Wooller (born 21 October 1938) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the VFL. Football Recruited from Bacchus Marsh, Wooller started his career as a full forward and topped Geelong's goalkicking with 56 goals in 1957, his tally being the equal second highest in the league for that season. He was rewarded with selection in the interstate carnival where he represented Victoria. He was the Geelong's leading goalkicker again in 1959 as well as in 1960, where he played at centre half forward and won the Carji Greeves Medal for the club's best and fairest. On 6 July 1963 he was a member of the Geelong team that were comprehensively and unexpectedly beaten by Fitzroy, 9.13 (67) to 3.13 (31) in the 1963 Miracle Match. In 1963 he became club captain and led his side into the grand final. He kicked 3 goals and helped Geelong win their 6th premiership. Bacchus Marsh Football Club
Bacchus Marsh Football and Netball Club is an Australian rules football and netball club, located in Bacchus Marsh in Victoria, Australia. The football squad competes in the Ballarat Football League, which is part of the Victorian Country Football League. The home ground of Bacchus Marsh is Maddingley Park, located to the south of Bacchus Marsh. History The club was originally two clubs: the Bacchus Marsh Tigers who wore a black guernsey with a yellow strip going diagonally from top left to bottom right, and the Maddingley Spiders who wore a black guernsey with a red strip going diagonally from top left to bottom right. In 1978 Maddingley left the Ballarat-Bacchus Marsh FL and joined the Ballarat Football League. Bacchus Marsh remained in the B-BMFL and struggled because the club was practically insolvent. The 1963 Miracle Match was an Australian rules football game contested in the second half of the 1963 VFL season home-and-away competition’s round 10 "split round" matches. The Ballarat Football League (BFL) is an Australian rules football competition that operates in the Ballarat region of Victoria, Australia. The competition formed in 1893 as the Ballarat Football Association and was renamed Ballarat Football League in 1908 and was briefly known as the Ballarat-Wimmera Football League between 1934 and 1936. 1963 VFL Season
The 1963 VFL season was the 67th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 20 April until 5 October, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Geelong Football Club for the sixth time, after it defeated by 49 points in the 1963 VFL Grand Final. Premiership season In 1963, the VFL competition consisted of twelve teams of 18 on-the-field players each, plus two substitute players, known as the 19th man and the 20th man.
