Fred Weary (offensive Lineman)
Fred Edward Weary Jr. (born September 30, 1977) is a former American football guard. He was drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at Tennessee. Early years Weary was a standout football player and wrestler at Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, Alabama. As a wrestler, he was a three-time Alabama state champion and Reno Tournament of Champions winner, a national level high school wrestling tournament. College career He played college football at the University of Tennessee from 1997–2001. Professional career Houston Texans He was drafted in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Texans and started 12 of the 16 games he played in as a rookie. He suffered a broken leg on December 2, 2007 in a game against the Tennessee Titans. In the 2008 preseason, he was placed on season-ending injured reserve. The Texans released him on October 14. In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming defensive line, linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), based in Montgomery, is the governing body for interscholastic athletics and activities programs for public schools in Alabama. The AHSAA is a member National Federation of State High School Associations since 1924. The AHSAA merged with the Alabama Interscholastic Athletic Association in 1968, forming one high school athletic association for the State of Alabama in accordance with a court order relating to athletics. The AIAA had previously governed athletics at segregated African-American schools. The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team based in Nashville, Tennessee. The Titans compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) South division, and play their home games at Nissan Stadium.
