Fred Redmond
Frederick D. Redmond is an American labor union official. Born in Chicago, Redmond began working at the Reynolds Metal Company in 1973. He soon joined the United Steelworkers (USW), becoming president of its Local 3911. In 1998, he began working for the union, then in 2006, he was elected as its international vice president for human affairs, with responsibilities including representing healthcare workers. In 2007, Redmond was additionally elected as chair of the board of directors of the A. Hassan Yussuff (born December 15, 1957) is a Guyanese-Canadian labour leader and politician. From 2014 to 2021, Yussuff served as president of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), the first non-white person to hold the role. In 2021, Yussuff was appointed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to serve as Canadian Senator from Ontario. Early life Yussuff emigrated to Canada from Guyana as a young man to work as a heavy truck mechanic. Once he arrived in Toronto, Yussuff soon found employment on the plant floor of CanCar, a local automotive parts manufacturer.
