Fred Pringle
Frederick Neville Pringle (22 December 1899 – 12 November 1982) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Cananore in the Tasmanian Football League (TFL) and Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1920s. Family The son of Charles Lowes Pringle (1868-1932), and May Gertrude Pringle, née Hewitt, Frederick Neville Pringle was born in Assam, India on 22 December 1899. He married Berenice Margaret Berkery (1906-1945) in 1929. Pre-war football Pringle was brought up in Tasmania where he played football with Cananore. Just 15 years of age when he debuted in 1915, he had to wait until 1920 to play again, due to the suspension of the competition during the war. 1924 Hobart Carnival
The 1924 Hobart Carnival was the fifth Australian National Football Carnival, an Australian rules football interstate competition. It was held from 6–15 August and was the first carnival to be hosted by the Tasmanian city of Hobart. It was won by Victoria. After only three states had contested the 1921 Perth Carnival due to high travelling expenses, the 1924 Carnival was contested by all six states. The carnival was staged as a full round-robin amongst the states. All fifteen matches were played at North Hobart Oval. Since the weaker footballing states of Queensland and New South Wales were grouped together with the likes of Victoria, there were many one sided games. Queensland in particular was uncompetitive against the main states. Tasmanian Football Hall Of Fame
The Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame was established to help recognise outstanding services and overall contribution made to the sport of Australian rules football in Tasmania. Any participant of the sport, including players, umpires, media personalities and coaches, may be inducted. A physical hall was established in 2005 after the Tasmanian Community Fund provided a $50,000 grant to assist AFL Tasmania and the Launceston City Council with establishment of a permanent facility at York Park. The decision to locate the Hall of Fame at the ground was because the site had recently been redeveloped and was positioned as the "true home of Tasmanian football". AFL Tasmania initiated the Hall of Fame nomination process, with a number of clubs, players and grounds nominated and accepted into the Hall of Fame since 2005. Sandy Bay, Tasmania
Sandy Bay is a suburb of the city of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, located immediately south of the central business district, and adjoining the suburb of Battery Point. Sandy Bay is bounded on the east by the Derwent River, and has several beaches along the shore, the main beaches with public access are Short Beach, Nutgrove Beach, Long Beach and Lords Beach.
