Fred Iger
Frederick Hillel Iger (July 12, 1924 – April 10, 2015) was an American comic book publisher, associated for many years with the media figure Harry Donenfeld. (Iger's first marriage was to Donenfeld's daughter, and his second marriage was to Donenfeld's ex-daughter-in-law.) Iger was an owner of American Comics Group from 1943 to 1967, and co-owner of National Periodical Publications (otherwise known as DC Comics) from 1948–1961. Iger is not known to be related to pioneering comic-book packager Jerry Iger. American Comics Group (ACG) was an American comic book publisher started in 1939 and existing under the ACG name from 1943 to 1967. It published the medium's first ongoing horror-comics title, ''Adventures into the Unknown''. ACG's best-known character was the 1960s satirical-humor hero Herbie Popnecker, who starred for a time in ''Forbidden Worlds''. Herbie would later get his own title and be turned into a "superhero" called the Fat Fury. Founded by Benjamin W. Harry Donenfeld (; October 17, 1893 – February 1, 1965) was an American publisher who is known primarily for being the owner of National Allied Publications, which distributed ''Detective Comics'' and ''Action Comics'', the originator publications for the superhero characters Superman and Batman. Donenfeld was also a founder of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Samuel Maxwell "Jerry" Iger (; August 22, 1903 – September 5, 1990) was an American cartoonist and art-studio entrepreneur. With business partner Will Eisner, he co-founded Eisner & Iger, a comic book packager that produced comics on demand for new publishers during the late-1930s and 1940s period known to fans and historians as the Golden Age of Comic Books. Robert Maxwell Joffe (January 31, 1908 – February 3, 1971) was an American radio and television producer, screenwriter, and entertainment executive. He was one of the producers (and a writer and director) of '' The Adventures of Superman'' radio show and a producer of several TV series, including the early episodes of both '' Adventures of Superman'' (1951–1954) and '' Lassie'' (1954–1957; executive producer 1957-1958).
