Frederick Howard, 5th Earl Of Carlisle
Frederick Howard, 5th Earl of Carlisle (28 May 1748 – 4 September 1825) was a British peer, statesman, diplomat, and author. Life He was the son of Henry Howard, 4th Earl of Carlisle and his second wife Isabella Byron. His mother was a daughter of William Byron, 4th Baron Byron and his wife Frances Berkeley, a descendant of John Berkeley, 1st Baron Berkeley of Stratton. She was also a sister of William Byron, 5th Baron Byron and a great-aunt of George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron, the poet. In 1798, Carlisle was appointed guardian to Lord Byron who later lampooned him in ''English Bards and Scotch Reviewers''. During his youth Carlisle was mentored by George Selwyn and was chiefly known as a man of pleasure and fashion. He was created a Knight of the Thistle in 1767, and entered the House of Lords in 1770. Frederick John Howard
Frederick John Howard (1 March 1814 – 28 February 1897) was a British Member of Parliament. Biography Howard, born on 1 March 1814, was the eldest son of Major the Hon. Frederick Howard, third son of Frederick Howard, 5th Earl of Carlisle. His mother was Susan Lambton, daughter of William Henry Lambton. Howard was elected to the House of Commons for Youghal in 1837, a seat he held until 1841. He was also a Deputy Lieutenant for Suffolk. Howard died on 28 February 1897. Family Howard married Lady Fanny (December 1885), daughter of the Hon. William Cavendish, in 1837. They had five sons and three daughters. Their eldest daughter Louise (died 7 October 1871 in childbirth) married Cecil Foljambe. Frederick George Howard (8 June 1805 – 18 November 1834) was a British politician. The second son of George Howard, Howard served as a captain in the 90th Regiment of Foot. He stood in the 1832 UK general election in Morpeth. He won election as a Whig, and focused on free trade and the abolition of monopolies. In 1834, Howard was travelling in a curricle near Bagnalstown, when the horse bolted. He attempted to jump clear of the vehicle, but hit his head hard and died. Frederick J. Howard (1893 – after 1924) was an English footballer. He played in Wales with Mid Rhondda, Pontypridd, Wrexham, and Welshpool Town; in Scotland with Dundee Hibernian, Ayr United, and Clyde; and in England with Manchester City, Port Vale, and New Brighton. Career Howard was born in Walkden and played youth football with Walkden Wednesday, before starting his professional career with Manchester City in 1912. He hit 12 goals in 16 First Division games in 1912–13, including all four in a 4–1 win over Liverpool at Hyde Road. He bagged 14 goals in 35 appearances in 1913–14, including a hat-trick against Derby County at the Baseball Ground. He scored 18 goals in 36 games in 1914–15 to become the club's top scorer. He scored a total of 40 goals in 79 league games. This total probably would have been much higher if it were not for World War I. Fred Irving Howard (born September 2, 1956) is a former American professional baseball pitcher with the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball. Howard was born in Portland, Maine and attended the University of Maine, where he played college baseball for the Maine Black Bears baseball team in 1975. He was drafted in the 6th round of the 1976 amateur draft by the White Sox and made he debut on May 26, . His final MLB game was September 6, 1979. During his lone MLB season, he appeared in 28 games, starting 6, and finished with a 1–5 record. His ERA was 3.57 over 68 innings. He played in the minor league system of Chicago from 1976–1983, including with the GCL White Sox, Appleton Foxes, Iowa Oaks, Knoxville Sox, and Glens Falls White Sox. Sir Frederick Howard (28 September 1827 – 6 January 1915) was a British industrialist who, with his brother James Howard, founded J & F Howard Ironfounders in Bedford. Life Frederick Howard was born on 28 September 1827, the youngest son of John and Elizabeth Howard of Caldwell House, Bedford. His parents were nonconformists and he was baptized at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Bedford on 25 October 1827. He was educated at Bedford Modern School and Bedford School (1839–41). Howard succeeded his father in his agricultural machinery business in 1851. In partnership with his brother, James Howard, MP, he built the Britannia Iron Works at Bedford in 1857 and established J & F Howard Ironfounders. Howard was knighted in 1895. He was made Deputy Lieutenant of Bedfordshire and a JP for Bedford.
