Fred Griffith (actor)
Fred Griffith (born October 1, 1964) is an American actor and producer. Early life Griffith was born Freddy Merrill Griffith, the son of Victor Merrill Griffith and Linda Gayle Griffith, in Spartanburg, SC. Griffith is of Welsh and Scots-Irish ancestry. His ancestors fought in the American Revolutionary War, The Civil War in the United States, World War I, World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. He has a younger sister, Cynthia Lynn. From an early age he knew he wanted to be an entertainer. He studied at University of South Carolina, Spartanburg and Coastal Carolina. He waited to pursue his life's passion of being a professional actor until he was in his thirties. Career He has been fortunate enough to work alongside of some of his childhood heroes, such as Robert Duvall in ''Gods and Generals'' and David Carradine in ''Miracle at Creek''. A film producer is a person who oversees film production. Either employed by a production company or working independently, producers plan and coordinate various aspects of film production, such as selecting the script, coordinating writing, directing, editing, and arranging financing. Unless the film is based on an existing script, the producer hires a screenwriter and oversees the script's development. ''Gods and Generals'' is a 2003 American epic war drama film written and directed by Ronald F. Maxwell. It is an adaptation of the 1996 novel of the same name by Jeffrey Shaara and prequel to Maxwell's 1993 film '' Gettysburg''. Most of the film was personally financed by media mogul Ted Turner. The film follows the story of Stonewall Jackson from the beginning of the American Civil War to his death at the Battle of Chancellorsville.
