Fred Blackburn (footballer)
James Thomas Alfred Blackburn (20 July 1878 – 13 March 1951), known as Fred Blackburn, was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Blackburn Rovers and in the Southern League for West Ham United. Blackburn played for his home-town club of Blackburn Rovers, playing as an outside-left, and featured for the team at the age of 17. He was capped three times for England, making his international debut at Crystal Palace against Scotland, in which he scored in a 2–2 draw. He also represented the English League against the Scottish League and played in a North versus South fixture. He moved to West Ham United in the summer of 1905, along with Blackburn teammates Lionel Watson and Harry Hindle, and switched to wing-half while with the club. He was an ever-present during the 1909–10 season and totalled 237 Southern League appearances for the club, scoring 24 goals, before leaving in 1913. Blackburn () is an industrial town and the administrative centre of the Blackburn with Darwen borough in Lancashire, England. The town is north of the West Pennine Moors on the southern edge of the Ribble Valley, east of Preston and north-northwest of Manchester. Lionel Watson
Lionel Watson (1881 – 1945) was an English footballer who played as an inside-forward or centre-forward in the Football League, primarily for Blackburn Rovers. He also played for Manchester City and Blackpool and spent three seasons with Southern League club West Ham United. Watson was born Southport and began his career with Southport Central. He spent a season as a reserve team player for Manchester City and retained his amateur status. He made his only League appearance in a 5–0 defeat to Sheffield United in November 1901. Watson signed as professional with Blackburn Rovers, where he scored 18 goals in 55 appearances during a three-year spell. Watson then dropped down to the Southern League Division One to play for West Ham United. Arthur Blackburn (footballer)
Arthur Blackburn (1876–1938) was an English footballer who played as a full-back with Blackburn Rovers and Southampton around the turn of the 20th century. He was the elder brother of England international footballer, Fred Blackburn. Football career Blackburn was born in the village of Billington, Lancashire and first joined his local club, Blackburn Rovers, in March 1895. After three years of reserve-team football, he spent the 1898–99 season with Northamptonshire club Wellingborough playing in the Midland League. He returned to Blackburn in the summer of 1899; by now his brother Fred had become established at outside-left. Arthur once again spent most of his time at Ewood Park playing in Rovers' reserve team while keeping fit by voluntarily working on the renovation of a church, and only managed two first-team appearances in the 1899–1900 season.
