Freaks (X Marks The Pedwalk Album)
''Freaks'' is the first full-length release by the German industrial music band X Marks the Pedwalk. It was originally released by Zoth Ommog in Europe as both an LP and CD, and was later released by Metropolis Records in North America with slightly different artwork and track list. Summary ''Freaks'', which was preceded by the "Abattoir" single, expanded on an already well-established sound for the band. Although it was their first full-length LP, the duo of Sevren Ni-arb and Regan Eracs had released three non-album singles plus "Abattoir", all through Germany's Zoth Ommog record label. However, this is the only full-length X Marks the Pedwalk release with Regan Eracs, who left after the production of "Cenotaph", a single which followed ''Freaks''. ''Freaks'' is arguably monumental in developing a sound for X Marks the Pedwalk. X Marks the Pedwalk (sometimes written as X-Marks the Pedwalk) is a German band whose styles range from post-industrial dance to electronic body music. X Marks the Pedwalk’s influence in the industrial and electronic music scenes was considerable during the 1990s, as they were one of the first and most popular acts from the now defunct record label, Zoth Ommog. Zoth Ommog
Zoth Ommog Records was a German Industrial music record label which was owned by the parent label Music Research. The company was established by German music producer Andreas Tomalla (aka Talla 2XLC) in 1989 and later handed over to producer Torben Schmidt. The label released albums for such bands as Leæther Strip, X Marks the Pedwalk, Bigod 20, Lights of Euphoria and Klinik between 1989 and 1999. The company based its name on the fictional character Zoth-Ommog in the Cthulhu Mythos. In the United States, many of the Zoth Ommog artists were released domestically under Cleopatra Records and Metropolis Records.
