''Freaks'' is a 2018 science fiction thriller film written and directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein. Starring Emile Hirsch, Bruce Dern, Grace Park, Amanda Crew, and Lexy Kolker, the film follows a seven-year-old girl (Kolker) who leaves her home for the first time after being kept inside by her father (Hirsch). Adam Stein
Adam Stein is an American film director and screenwriter working in Los Angeles, California. Stein graduated from Harvard University and the directing program at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He co-directed the Disney live-action movie ''Kim Possible'', and also co-wrote and directed the award-winning independent film ''Freaks'', working with partner Zach Lipovsky. In 2019, he was nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Directing for his work on the TV series Mech-X4. Prior to directing, Stein edited several independent features that played at film festivals such as Sundance, Tribeca, and SXSW. Dakota Daulby (born October 10, 1994) is a Canadian film and television actor, producer, director and screenwriter. Early life Daulby was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He spends his time between his home town of Maple Ridge and Vancouver. The Paris International Fantastic Film Festival (PIFFF), was created in 2011 by the Paris Ciné Fantastique association as a venue for horror, thriller and science fiction films. It takes place in Paris every year in December, and has been recently presented by television station :fr:Ciné+ and ''Mad Movies'' magazine. PIFFF has prizes in both feature length and short films. Utopiales is an annual international science fiction festival held in Nantes, France, probably the largest European event for the field. It covers science fiction and fantasy literature, film, fine arts, comics, role-playing games, and animation, from a distinctly European point of view. Founded by Bruno della Chiesa, and run by science fiction museum director Patrick Gyger from 2001 to 2005, it is put on by the "Association du Festival International de Science-Fiction de Nantes".
