Ernst Zahn
Ernst Zahn (24 January 1867 in Zürich, Switzerland – 12 February 1952 in Meggen) was a Swiss author. His writing took its themes from Swiss local life. Biography In 1873 his father, an innkeeper, bought a hotel at Siders in the canton of Wallis, and here Ernst obtained his first instruction in the Protestant Elementary School. In 1875, he went to Zurich, where his grandparents took charge of him and sent him to the public schools, later (for three years) to the gymnasium. His father leased, in 1880, the restaurant in the railroad station at Goschenen, at the entrance to the Saint Gotthard Tunnel, and here Zahn worked as a waiter in 1883. For a year and a half he also attended the Breidenstein International Boys' School at Grenchen, canton of Solothurn. In all these various capacities, and in spite of a much interrupted education, he was energetically pursuing every opportunity that presented itself to him for increasing his knowledge. ''Frau Sixta'' is a 1938 German historical drama film directed by Gustav Ucicky and starring Gustav Fröhlich, Franziska Kinz and Ilse Werner. It is based on the 1925 novel of the same title by the Swiss writer Ernst Zahn. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Franz Koehn and Hans Kuhnert. It was shot at the Bavaria Studios in Munich and on location at the winter sports resort of Kühtai in the Austrian Tyrol. Plot In the 1860s a widow runs an estate, close to the Italian border. One day a former army officer arrives on his way to Italy. She persuades him to stay and work for her, and before long they begin a relationship. Gustav Ucicky (6 July 1899 – 27 April 1961) was an Austrians, Austrian film director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. He was one of the more successful directors in Austria and Germany from the 1930s through to the early 1960s. He landed secondary roles in a number of films and plays before landing his breakthrough role of Freder Fredersen in Fritz Lang's 1927 film ''Metropolis''. He remained a popular film star in Germany until the 1950s. Biography Early life and Weimar Republic Gustav Fröhlich was born an illegitimate child in Hanover and was raised by foster parents.
