Frashër Assembly (1880)
The Second Assembly of Frashër was one of the regional assemblies organized by the League of Prizren. It was held in Frashër in June 1880. It was attended by representatives of settlements with Albanian population which administratively were part of the vilayets of Vilayet of Ioannina, Ioannina and Manastir Vilayet, Manastir. The assembly had as central goal addressing the risk of partition of lands with Albanian populations among neighbouring countries. Among other things, the participants agreed on a proposal to form a central national government which would be formed by the ''General Assembly of the League of Prizren''. League Of Prizren
The League of Prizren ( sq, Besëlidhja e Prizrenit), officially the League for the Defense of the Rights of the Albanian Nation ( sq, Lidhja për mbrojtjen e të drejtave te kombit Shqiptar), was an Albanian political organization which was officially founded on June 10, 1878 in the old town of Prizren in the Kosovo Vilayet of the Ottoman Empire. It was suppressed in April 1881. The treaties of San Stefano and Berlin both assigned areas inhabited by Albanians to other states. The inability of the Porte to protect the interests of a region that was 70 percent Muslim and largely loyal forced Albanian leaders not only to organize their own defense, but also to consider the creation of an autonomous administration, like Serbia and the other Danubian Principalities had enjoyed before their independence.
