Fraser Minten
Fraser Minten (born July 5, 2004) is a Canadian junior ice hockey centre playing for the Saskatoon Blades in the Western Hockey League (WHL) as a prospect under contract to the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). Minten was selected 38th overall, in the second round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, by the Maple Leafs. Early life Minten was born in Vancouver, British Columbia to parents Chantal and Trevor Minten. Growing up, Minten enjoyed reading and playing the piano, influenced by his grandparents, with whom he traveled with during the summer months. Playing career Junior Minten joined West Van Academy Prep where he played with Connor Bedard. Minten was drafted by Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League (WHL) in the fourth round of the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft. Canada Men's National Junior Ice Hockey Team
The Canadian men's national under-20 ice hockey team is the ice hockey team representing Canada internationally in under-20 competition. Their primary participation in this age group comes at the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Junior Championship, held annually every December and January. The team also participates in various exhibition matches and occasional exhibition series, such as the 2007 Super Series against their Russian counterparts, an eight-game exhibition series commemorating the 35th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series. 2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships
The 2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships (''2024 WJHC'') will be the 48th edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship. It will begin on December 26, 2023 and will end with the gold medal game being played on January 5, 2024. The 2022–23 WHL season was the 57th season of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The regular season started on September 23, 2022, and ended on March 26, 2023. 2021–22 WHL Season
The 2021–22 WHL season is the 56th season of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The league plans on playing a full 68-game regular season having begun on October 1, 2021, and scheduled to end on April 17, 2022. The WHL announced that no interconference games will be played during the regular season. On August 16, 2021, the WHL announced a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all players, hockey operations staff, officials, and all other employees who regularly interact with players. On September 8, 2021, the WHL announced that due to COVID-19 border restrictions, the schedule had been re-aligned so that the B.C. Division and U.S. Division will not play interdivision games until at least November 2021. British Columbia Hockey League
The British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league from British Columbia under Hockey Canada and BC Hockey. Founded in Vernon in 1961, the BCHL now includes 18 teams. From 1993 to 2021, the league was a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), an association of Junior A leagues across Canada that would play for the National Junior A Championship. Prince George Spruce Kings
The Prince George Spruce Kings are a junior "A" ice hockey team based in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. They are members of the Mainland Division of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). They play their home games at Kopar Memorial Arena, which has a capacity of 2,112. Penalty (ice Hockey)
A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play. Penalties are called and enforced by the referee, or in some cases, the linesman. The offending team may not replace the player on the ice (although there are some exceptions, such as fighting), leaving them short-handed as opposed to full strength. When the opposing team is said to be on a ''power play'', they will have one more player on the ice than the short-handed team. The short-handed team is said to be "on the penalty kill" until the penalty expires and the penalized player returns to play. While standards vary somewhat between leagues, most leagues recognize several common varieties of penalties, as well as common infractions. Point (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, point has three contemporary meanings. Personal stat A point is awarded to a player for each goal scored or assist earned. The total number of goals plus assists equals total points. The Art Ross Trophy is awarded to the National Hockey League (NHL) player who leads the league in scoring points at the end of the regular season. Team stat Points are also awarded to assess standings (or rankings). Historically, teams were awarded two points for each win, one point for each tie and no points for a loss.
