François Lapointe (politician)
François Lapointe (born March 26, 1971) is a Canadian politician who served as MP for the electoral district of Montmagny—L'Islet—Kamouraska—Rivière-du-Loup. He was defeated in the 2015 election. On the night of the 2011 election, Lapointe was initially declared unsuccessful in his riding, losing narrowly to incumbent MP Bernard Généreux. However, Lapointe was subsequently declared elected on May 5, 2011, after the riding's returning officer determined that 100 votes for Lapointe were reportedly allocated in error to the Green Party candidate in the initial tally. L'Islet, Quebec
L'Islet is a municipality within L'Islet Regional County Municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada. It is located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River halfway between Quebec City and Rivière-du-Loup. The Musée Maritime du Québec (Quebec Marine Museum) is located there on Route 132. History and geography The current town of L'Islet was formed in 2000 with the merger of the former city of L'Islet, the municipality of L'Islet-sur-Mer, and the parish municipality of Saint-Eugène. The municipality got its name from a small island in the river near the village of L'Islet-sur-Mer. The Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours church, built 1768, is classified as important historical building. Paul Crête
Paul Crête (born April 8, 1953) is a Canadian politician, who served as a Member of Parliament for the Bloc Québécois in the House of Commons of Canada from 1993 until 2009, when he announced that he was moving to provincial politics. Political career Crête was born in Hérouxville, Quebec. Prior to his political career, he was a school administrator. Crête was first elected in 1993 representing Kamouraska—Rivière-du-Loup in the 1993 Canadian federal election, then re-elected in 1997 representing Kamouraska—Rivière-du-Loup—Témiscouata—Les Basques defeating former Quebec MNA France Dionne in a hotly contested five way race.
