François Goyet
François Goyet (born 4 November 1994) is a French field hockey player who plays as a midfielder for Belgian Hockey League club Gantoise and the French national team. Club career In club competition, Goyet plays for Gantoise in the Belgian Hockey League. He joined Gantoise in 2019 after having played for Saint Germain in France. International career Under–21 François Goyet debuted for the French under-21 team in 2014 at the EuroHockey Junior Championship in Waterloo. Senior national team Following his junior debut, Goyet made his first appearance for Les Bleus in 2014 during a test series against Ireland in Wattignies. In 2018, Goyet was a member of the national team at the FIH World Cup in Bhubaneswar. Goyet won his first major medal with the senior team in 2019 at the FIH Series Finals in Le Touquet, taking home a gold medal. La Gantoise HC, also known as Gantoise is a Belgian sports club based in Ghent, Brussels. The club is most well known for its field hockey section with both the first men's and women's teams playing in the Belgian Hockey League. The Gantoise women are the current title holders in the Belgian Hockey League, as well as the EuroHockey Club Trophy. History While La Gantoise was originally founded in 1864, the hockey section was not formed until 1914. The first edition of the Belgian Hockey League, known simply as 'The Championship' at the time, was held following the conclusion of World War One. La Gantoise placed well, finishing in fourth place, only to win the following year. At the club's 100th anniversary, in 1964, La Gantoise had 150 members, forming 10 teams. The club continued to grow, eventually forming women's teams, who reached the top level of Belgian hockey in 2003. Men's FIH Hockey World Cup
The Men's FIH Hockey World Cup is an international field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The tournament was started in 1971. It is held every four years, bridging the four years between the Summer Olympics. Pakistan is the most successful team, having won the tournament four times. The Netherlands and Australia have each won three titles, and Germany has won two titles. Belgium and India have both won the tournament once. The 2018 tournament was held in Bhubaneswar, India from 28 November to 16 December. Belgium defeated Netherlands in a penalty shoot-out 3–2 after the match ended in a 0–0 draw to win their first World Cup title. Men's FIH Pro League
The Men's FIH Pro League is an international men's field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), which replaces the Men's FIH Hockey World League. The competition also serves as a qualifier for the Hockey World Cup and the Field hockey at the Summer Olympics, Olympic Games. The first edition started in 2019. Nine teams secured their places for four years. Format Nine men's and women's teams compete in a round-robin tournament with home and away matches, played from October to June, with the top team at the end of the season winning the league.
