François Angelier
François Angelier (born 22 August 1958) is a French journalist, presenter, essayist, biographer and author of fantasy novels. Biography Angelier's early discovery of Owen, Claude Seignolle, Michel de Ghelderode, Kubin, Meyrink and especially Jean Ray fired his interest in ''mauvais genres''. After studying in Paris and a short time with a theatre troupe, Angelier made his radio debut in 1981 with a programme on H.P. Lovecraft. With Emmanuel Laurentin and Jean-Christophe Ogier, he launched ''Bande à Parte'' on the French radio station France Culture in summer 1991—a programme dedicated to fantasy, fiction and comic books. Charles-Marie-Georges Huysmans (, ; 5 February 1848 – 12 May 1907) was a French novelist and art critic who published his works as Joris-Karl Huysmans (, variably abbreviated as J. K. or J.-K.). He is most famous for the novel ''À rebours'' (1884, published in English as ''Against the Grain'' and as ''Against Nature''). He supported himself by way of a 30-year career in the French civil service. Huysmans's work is considered remarkable for its idiosyncratic use of the French language, large vocabulary, descriptions, satirical wit and far-ranging erudition. First considered part of Naturalism, he became associated with the decadent movement with his publication of ''À rebours.'' His work expressed his deep pessimism, which had led him to the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer. Claude Langlois
Claude Langlois (c. 1700 – 1756) was a French maker of precision scientific instruments and the foremost among them in the period. His instruments included draughtsman's tools like an improved pantograph, measuring instruments, and six-foot quadrants for astronomical angle measurement. He was appointed official instrument maker for French astronomers Cassini II, Cassini de Thury, Le Monnier, Maupertuis, and the Abbé de Lacaille; and held the official position of ingénieur en instruments de mathématiques for the French Académie des Sciences in 1740. Little is known of Langlois' life but he was considered the most famous maker of scientific instruments between 1730 and 1756 and many of his instruments are known from his name on them.
