Franziska Fritz
Franziska Fritz (born 3 January 1991 in Hildburghausen) is a German bobsledder. Fritz competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Germany. She teamed with driver Sandra Kiriasis as the Germany-1 sled in the two-woman event, finishing 5th. As of April 2014, her best showing at the World Championships is 7th, in 2013. Hildburghausen (IPA adapted from: ) is a town in Thuringia in central Germany, capital of the district Hildburghausen. Geography It is situated in the Franconian part of Thuringia south of the Thuringian Forest, in the valley of the Werra river. The town centre is located about south of Suhl and northwest of Coburg. History The settlement of ''Hilteburgehusin'' was first mentioned in a 1234 deed, when the Counts of Henneberg sold it to the Prince-Bishops of Würzburg. Repurchased in 1316, the Henneberg lords vested the citizens with town privileges in 1324 and had city walls erected. The 2013–14 Bobsleigh World Cup was a multi-race tournament over the winter season for bobsleigh, organised by the FIBT, which also organised in parallel the 2013–14 Skeleton World Cup. The season started on 30 November 2013 in Calgary, Canada, and ended on 26 January 2014 in Königssee, Germany. Calendar Below is the schedule of the 2013/14 season. The FIBT World Championships 2013 took place at the St. Moritz-Celerina Olympic Bobrun in St. Moritz, Switzerland for the record twenty-second time, after hosting the event previously in 1931 (Four-man), 1935 (Four-man), 1937 (Four-man), 1938 (Two-man), 1939 (Two-man), 1947, 1955, 1957, 1959, 1965, 1970, 1974, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1989 (Skeleton), 1990 (Bobsleigh), 1997 (Bobsleigh), 1998 (Skeleton), 2001 (Men's bobsleigh), and 2007. Switzerland was scheduled to host the 2012 World Championships, but the 2012 location was switched to Lake Placid, New York in December 2010.
