Franz Zacharias Ermerins
Franz Zacharias Ermerins (also Franciscus, Frans, François) (8 November 1808 in Middelburg, Zeeland, Middelburg – 29 May 1871 in Groningen (city), Groningen) was a Dutch physician and medical editor whose literary work encompassed Hippocrates and ancient Greek medicine. He was born into an eminent Zeeland family in Middelburg. In 1826, he graduated from the Latin school there. After the outbreak of the Belgian Revolution while he was a medical student at Leyden University, he joined the ''Leidse Jagers'', a volunteer company of soldiers drawn from the Leyden student body, and participated in the Ten Days' Campaign. Upon his safe return, he continued his studies. He received a Doctor of Philosophy, doctoral degree on November 3, 1832, with his thesis ''de Hippocratis doctrina a prognostice oriunda''. Soranus Of Ephesus
Soranus of Ephesus ( grc-gre, Σωρανός ὁ Ἑφέσιος; 1st/2nd century AD) was a Greek physician. He was born in Ephesus but practiced in Alexandria and subsequently in Rome, and was one of the chief representatives of the Methodic school of medicine. Several of his writings still survive, most notably his four-volume treatise on gynecology, and a Latin translation of his ''On Acute and Chronic Diseases''. Life Little is known about the life of Soranus. According to the Suda (which has two entries on him) he was a native of Ephesus, was the son of Menander and Phoebe, and practiced medicine at Alexandria and Rome in the reigns of Trajan and Hadrian (98–138). He lived at least as early as Archigenes, who used one of his medicines; he was tutor to Statilius Attalus of Heraclea, physician to Marcus Aurelius; and he was dead when Galen wrote his work ''De Methodo Medendi'', c. 178. Charles Victor Daremberg (14 March 1817, Dijon – 24 October 1872) was a French librarian, medical historian and classical philologist. He began his medical studies in Dijon, later relocating to Paris, where he served as librarian of the Académie de Médecine and at the Bibliothèque Mazarine. Also, he gave lectures at the Collège de France and held the chair of '' Histoire de la médecine''. In the field of classical philology, he translated works by Galen and Hippocrates.
