Franz Ignaz Von Holbein
Franz Ignaz von Holbein (27 August 1779 – 5 September 1855) was an Austrian playwright and theatre director. Life Born in Zistersdorf, Holbein (Edler von Holbeinsberg) was supposed to devote himself to civil service, but followed his adventurous spirit and, earning his living by singing and playing the guitar, went around the world under the name "Fontano". In Fraustadt, he accepted engagements with Döbbelin's theatre company, later with the Hoftheater, became husband of Gräfin Lichtenau and took up residence in Breslau, where he composed among other things the play ''Fridolin'' after Schiller's '' Der Gang nach dem Eisenhammer''. After he had divorced after five years of marriage, he again wandered around with a guitar he had improved, until Count Ferdinánd Pálffy appointed him as a theatre poet at the Theater an der Wien, where he also became court theatre director with a salary of 1000 gulden in August 1808. The Bamberg State Library (german: Staatsbibliothek Bamberg) is a combined universal, regional and research library with priority given to the humanities. Today it is housed in the New Residence, the former prince-bishop's new palace. The Free State of Bavaria is responsible for the library. The adjective (usually abbreviated to ), German for imperial–royal, was applied to the authorities and state institutions of the Austrian Empire until the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867, which established the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Thereafter the abbreviation only applied to institutions of the so-called Cisleithania (i.e. those lands not part of the Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen/Transleithania: Hungary and Croatia-Slavonia; Bosnia and Herzegovina, annexed in 1878 from the Ottoman Empire, was a condominium of Cis- and Transleithania). Common institutions of both halves of the empire were described from 1867 to 1918 as ("imperial ''and'' royal"). Contrary to the regulations, the Common Army continued to use the abbreviation to describe itself until 1889. Paul List (21 August 1869 – 30 April 1929) was a German publisher. Life Born in Berlin the son of Friedrich Jacob Alfred List (1829-1882), banker and co-founder of , and his wife Christine Marie Louise, ''née'' Simon, started out in Göttingen But then he started the career of his grandfather, the Berlin publisher Jacob Alfred List (1778-1848), who studied agriculture and became a bookseller at the publishing house Schall & Grund, Berlin. On April 1, 1894 List founded the Paul List Verlag in Berlin, in the tradition of his grandfather's List-Verlag, which was founded in 1814. In 1896 he moved to Leipzig, Carolinenstraße 22, where he concentrated on light fiction and non-fiction. Among its most successful authors was Nataly von Eschstruth. Constantin Wurzbach Ritter von Tannenberg (11 April 1818 – 17 August 1893) was an Austrian biographer, lexicographer and author. Biography He was born in Laibach, Carniola (present-day Ljubljana, Slovenia).He later went on to complete a course in philosophy and published poetry in local periodicals, inspired by the work of Nikolaus Lenau and Anastasius Grün. At the request of his father, he began studying jurisprudence at Graz, which he, however, abandoned after two years. Instead, he joined the Austrian army and served in a Galician infantry regiment at Cracow from 1837. As a cadet, he continued to publish poems under the pseudonym ''W. Constant''. In 1841 he was promoted to the rank of second lieutenant (''Unterleutnant'') and transferred to Lemberg (Lviv). At the same time, he studied philosophy at the Lemberg University and in 1843 became the first active officer in the Austrian army to obtain a doctorate. The Vienna State Opera (, ) is an opera house and opera company based in Vienna, Austria. The 1,709-seat Renaissance Revival venue was the first major building on the Vienna Ring Road. It was built from 1861 to 1869 following plans by August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll, and designs by Josef Hlávka. The opera house was inaugurated as the "Vienna Court Opera" (''Wiener Hofoper'') in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth of Austria. It became known by its current name after the establishment of the First Austrian Republic in 1921. Heinrich Laube (18 September 1806 – 1 August 1884), German dramatist, novelist and theatre-director, was born at Sprottau in Prussian Silesia. Life He studied theology at Halle and Breslau (1826–1829), and settled in Leipzig in 1832.
