Franz Anton
Franz Anton (born 23 October 1989) is a German slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2006. He specialized in the C1 class from the start of his career. Between 2012 and 2018 he was also competing in the C2 class together with Jan Benzien. He won nine medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with two golds (C1: 2018, C2: 2015), four silvers (C1 team: 2010, 2013, 2015; C2 team: 2015), and three bronzes (C1: 2014, 2021, 2022). He also won eight medals at the European Championships (4 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes), including a gold in the C1 team event at the 2023 European Games in Kraków. Lutherstadt Wittenberg
Wittenberg ( , ; Low Saxon: ''Wittenbarg''; meaning ''White Mountain''; officially Lutherstadt Wittenberg (''Luther City Wittenberg'')), is the fourth largest town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. 2018 European Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2018 European Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Prague, Czech Republic under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 19th edition of the competition and Prague hosted the event for the first time. The events took place at the Prague-Troja Canoeing Centre from 1 to 3 June 2018. The men's C2 event made its last appearance at major international competitions after the ICF had decided to pull this event out of the World Cup and World Championship program. Jan Benzien
Jan Benzien (born 22 July 1982) is a German slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 1999. Benzien started out as a C1 paddler. Since 2012 he has also been competing in C2, teaming up with Franz Anton. He won eleven medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with two golds (C1 team: 2006, C2: 2015), eight silvers (C1: 2002; C1 team: 2002, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2013; C2 team: 2015), and a bronze (C1: 2009). He won additional 16 medals at the European Championships (3 golds, 7 silvers, and 6 bronzes). Benzien competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. In the C1 event, he finished second in the qualification round, thus progressing to the semifinals. In the semifinals, Benzien finished twelfth, failing to reach the top eight and the final round. The European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships is an annual international canoeing and kayaking event organized by the European Canoe Association (ECA). The Junior Championships were first held in 1995 and then every two years until 2003. The Under-23 Championships were first held in 2002 as part of the senior championships that year. The 2016 European Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 17th edition of the competition and Liptovský Mikuláš hosted the event for the second time after previously hosting it in 2007.
