''Jan Hus '' is a 1954 Czechoslovak film about Jan Hus, an early Christian reformer. It is the first part of the " Hussite Revolutionary Trilogy", one of the most famous works of Otakar Vávra, completed with ''Jan Žižka'' (1955) and ''Against All (1956). Plot The opening part is set in 1412. It portrays the suffering of the poor working on the Týn Temple in Prague. It shows their struggles with rich townspeople and stingy church dignitaries collecting indulgences. Publicly criticizing the Catholic Church, Jan Hus opposes the sale of indulgences in his sermons in the Bethlehem Chapel. In addition to crowds of poor Praguers, his services are attended by Queen Žofia, who defends Hus before King Wenceslas. ''Lost in the Suburbs'' ( cs, Návrat domů, alternative English title: ''Homecoming'') is a 1948 Czechoslovak drama film starring Karel Höger about soldiers returning from World War II. Based on the story written by Leopold Lahola the movie was directed by Martin Frič. Though some critics are ranking this movie among Top 10 of Frič's fruitfull filmography, at the time of its release the film met mostly negative reviews and even today is still ignored by publishers as well as by public. ''Krakatit'' is a 1948 Czechoslovak science fiction mystery film directed by Otakar Vávra, starring Karel Höger as a chemist who suffers from delirium and regret after inventing a powerful explosive. The film is based on Karel Čapek's novel with the same title, written in 1922. The name is derived from the volcano Krakatoa. Plot A barely conscious, unidentified man is given intensive care by a doctor and a nurse. The man's hands are badly burned and cut. The doctor tells the nurse to give the man oxygen. A sequence begins where the man walks along a street in delirium. An old classmate, Jiří Tomeš, greets him and we learn that the man's name is Prokop. He speaks incoherently about an explosion and something he calls krakatit. Jiří brings him home and puts him in bed. In a dream, a university professor asks Prokop about krakatit. ''Premonition'' ( cs, Předtucha) is a 1947 Czechoslovak drama film directed by Otakar Vávra and starring Nataša Tanská and Rudolf Hrušínský. The film was screened at 1948 Locarno Film Festival. The film is an adaptation of Marie Pujmanová's novel ''Premonition''. Originally Miroslav Cikán tried to make the film in 1944 with Jana Dítětová in the main role, but the production was canceled only after a few days of filming. Otakar Vávra re-wrote the screenplay and made his 1947 version with a different cast. František Smolík played the role of the father in both films.
