Frans Piët
Frans Piët (17 February 1905, Haarlem – 5 January 1997) was a Dutch comics artist, most famous as the original creator of the longest-running Dutch comics series of all time: ''Sjors & Sjimmie''. Biography He was born in 1905 as the son of a butcher. Originally Piët aspired to become a musician and learned to play violin and saxophone. He even performed in The Blue Ramblers, headed by Pi Scheffer. Near the end of the 1920s he applied for a job at publishing company De Spaarnestad, where he drew patterns for sewing. In 1932 he was asked to draw comics for the children's magazines issued by De Spaarnestad. At the time Martin Branner's ''Perry Winkle'' was very popular under its Dutch translation of ''Sjors'' and even inspired his own eponymous magazine. Sidekick
A sidekick is a close companion or colleague who is, or is generally regarded as, subordinate to those whom they accompany. Origins The first recorded use of the term dates from 1896. Tita Tovenaar or TiTa Tovenaar (translation: ''Tita the wizard'') is a Dutch children's television series, which was produced by the Nederlandse Omroep Stichting and ran between 1972 and 1974. At the time it was popular enough to inspire audio plays and a comic strip. ''Tita Tovenaar'' remained popular in repeats and was adapted into a 2005 stage musical. Between 2008 and 2009 it briefly returned to Dutch TV screens in a new version. 1972-1974 version ''Tita Tovenaar'' is set in a castle in the clouds, where Tita the absent-minded wizard lives with his daughter Tika. Johannes Andries "Jan" Kruis (; 8 June 1933 – 19 January 2017) was a Dutch comics artist best known for the family strip '' Jack, Jacky and the Juniors'' (''Jan, Jans en de Kinderen''). Biography He began creating comics as a child. Later he worked for the Dutch comics pioneer Marten Toonder. Kruis started his own comics career drawing ''Prins Freddie'' for the magazine ''De Havenloods'', but became famous thanks to his series of one-pagers called '' Jan, Jans en de Kinderen'' (''Jack, Jacky and the Juniors''). It first appeared in the woman's magazine ''Libelle'' on December 12, 1970. In German-speaking Switzerland it appeared in the magazine ''Spick'' which targeted children and teenagers; and in Germany ''Favorit'' published it for some time under the name "Ulli, Ulla und die Kinder".
