Franklin Pearce (1930s Pitcher)
Franklin Thomas Pearce (August 31, 1905 – September 3, 1950) was a Major League Baseball pitcher. He played parts of three seasons, from 1933 until 1935, for the Philadelphia Phillies. Pearce was effective as a reliever in a game played at Wrigley Field Wrigley Field is a Major League Baseball (MLB) stadium on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois. It is the home of the Chicago Cubs, one of the city's two MLB franchises. It first opened in 1914 as Weeghman Park for Charles Weeghman's Chicago Wh ... on September 12, 1933. In an afternoon game he relieved Ed Holley in the eighth inning for Philadelphia. The Phillies lost, 2–0, but the two pitchers gave up only six hits combined. Pearce died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 1950.
