The following is a list of Mississippi Landmarks officially nominated by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History and approved by each county's chancery clerk. The Mississippi Landmark designation is the highest form of recognition bestowed on properties by the state of Mississippi, and designated properties are protected from changes that may alter the property's historic character. Currently there are 890 designated landmarks in the state. Franklin Hall (Goodwell, Oklahoma)
Franklin Hall in Goodwell, Oklahoma, USA, built during 1909-10 by a local contractor, has been used in various ways for housing throughout its history. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Texas County, Oklahoma in 2007 with the alternate name Girls' Dormitory/Boys' Dormitory. It is a by concrete building with a moderately sloped hipped asphalt roof, and has no particular architectural style. It was built, along with two church buildings, in an effort to get the state legislature's approval for an agricultural high school to be located in Goodwell. The school was approved and was named the "Panhandle Agricultural Institute", later renamed to "Panhandle Agriculture and Mechanical College" and eventually in 1974, to Oklahoma Panhandle State University. This Committee of Fifty, sometimes referred to as Committee of Safety, Citizens' Committee of Fifty or Relief and Restoration Committee of Law and Order, was called into existence by Mayor Eugene Schmitz during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The Mayor invited civic leaders, entrepreneurs, newspaper men and politicians—but none of the members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors—to participate in this committee in whose hands the civil administration of San Francisco would rest. Schmitz thought it necessary to form this body to manage the crisis during the disaster, although there was no legal basis for it. Graviton (Franklin Hall) is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Jim Shooter and artist Sal Buscema, he first appeared in '' The Avengers'' #158, dated April 1977. Over the years he has mainly opposed the Avengers in their various incarnations. Originally a gravity researcher, Franklin Hall gains the ability to control gravity. Corrupted by this power, he becomes a supervillain using the name "Graviton". He is confronted and defeated by the Avengers as he tried to destroy the facility where he did his original research. In subsequent appearances Graviton seems to struggle with control of his powers and often loses because of this. More than one storyline has depicted Graviton's apparent death, only for him to return subsequently through various means. Franklin Hall (minister)
C. Franklin Hall (October 4, 1907 - January 13, 1993) was an American Christian minister and faith healer. Born in Coffeyville, Kansas to Carey F. Hall and Alice M. Hall, he was the oldest of six children. He was a prominent minister in the Healing Revival during the 1940s and 1950s, a well known author in the Pentecostal movement, and an important leader in the Latter Rain movement. His teachings on fasting were particularly influential in the Latter Rain movement. Hall founded Miracle Temple in San Diego in 1946, where he established the Fasting and Prayer Daily Revival Center. In 1956 Franklin moved his headquarters to Phoenix, Arizona, where he established the International Healing Cathedral and the Hall Deliverance Foundation. Hall did missionary work in Africa and was particularly active in Nigeria during the 1970s. Theta Xi () is a North American Greek-letter social college fraternity. It was founded at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on April 29, 1864. Of all the social fraternities today, Theta Xi was the only one founded during the Civil War. Its Grand Lodge is headquartered in suburban St. Louis, Missouri.
