Franklin Delano Williams ( in Smithdale, Mississippi – in Savannah, Georgia) was an American gospel music singer. Musical career As a child and during his early teens he joined the Southern Gospel Singers and later, The Williams Brothers. The Jackson Southernaires He teamed up with his brother Huey Williams in 1964, as part of The Jackson Southernaires. After their debut release, ''Too Late'', they signed with ABC/Dunhill Records in 1972 and where they recorded ''Look Around'' and ''Save My Child''. Later the Southernaires signed to Malaco Records. With Malaco they recorded ''Legendary Gentlemen'' (1979), ''Touch of Class'' (1981), and ''Down Home'' (1982). They won several awards during the 1980s. Reverend James Moore Sr. (February 1, 1956 – June 7, 2000), born James Leslie Moore, was an American gospel artist. He died in 2000, aged 44. The Mississippi Mass Choir is an American gospel choir based in Jackson, Mississippi. Musical career After wrestling with the idea of forming a mass choir, Frank Williams, a member of The Jackson Southernaires and an executive in the gospel music division of Malaco Records, decided to form the Mississippi Mass Choir. First, he got the record company's support. Then, he began calling on Mississippi talents like David R. Curry Jr., who became the choir's minister of music. Having laid the foundation, open auditions were held and over 100 voices from across the state came together to form the Mississippi Mass Choir. After months of rehearsals, the Mississippi Mass Choir recorded their eponymous debut album and video live at Thalia Mara Hall (formerly Jackson Municipal Auditorium) on October 29, 1988. The Jackson Southernaires
The Jackson Southernaires is an American traditional black gospel music group from Jackson, Mississippi, producer Frank Crisler formed the group in 1940, yet they did not become active until 1969, with the release of ''Too Late'' by Song Bird Records. At its inception, The group consisted of five members; Huey Williams, Roger Bryant Jr., Maurice Surrell, James Burks, and Luther Jennings. The group received a nomination for a Grammy Award in the Best Traditional Gospel Album category at the 34th Annual Grammy Awards. The group has released 28 albums, including their 2010 release, ''Back Again'', with Blackberry Records.
