Frankfurt Airport Loop
The Frankfurt Airport loop (German: ''Flughafenschleife Frankfurt'') is a double-track railway line connecting Frankfurt and Frankfurt Airport and operated as part of the Frankfurt S-Bahn. It is electrified at 15 kV/16.7 Hz. The line was built in two stages between 1968 and 1980 and has since been mainly used by S-Bahn services. Route The airport S-Bahn connects the S-Bahn network of the city of Frankfurt am Main from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof with Frankfurt Airport and Kelsterbach. The connecting line runs on the surface to the airport area, where it runs in a tunnel. The core of the line is an approximately 2.2 kilometre-long tunnel. On the double-track section, the tunnel is 8.80 metres wide and its height above the railhead is 5.50 metres and the track spacing is 4.00 metres. Mannheim–Frankfurt Railway
Mannheim–Frankfurt railway is a German standard gauge, electrified railway line and runs in southern Hesse and northern Baden-Württemberg between Frankfurt and Mannheim. It is also called the ''Riedbahn'' (Ried Railway). The line runs through an area called the '' Hessische Ried'', hence the name. The term ''Riedbahn'' was originally used for the Darmstadt–Worms railway and the two lines share the central section between Groß-Gerau and Biblis. The Mannheim–Frankfurt railway is used by three Intercity-Express routes, connecting South Germany with Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Dortmund and regional services of the Rhine-Main transport union and Rhine-Neckar transport union. Track Spacing
The track spacing is the distance between the track centres of double-track railway lines. There are standard distances derived from the standard loading gauge in a country. For high-speed trains and in tighter curves that distance needs to be increased. The track spacing is also called the ''center-to-center'' spacing to differentiate it from the ''edge-to-center'' spacing of a railway. These two values may be different depending on how signal masts are added to the overall track geometry. Description The distance between the track centres makes a difference in cost and performance of a double-track line. The track centres can be as narrow and as cheap as possible, but maintenance must be done on the side. Signals for bi-directional working cannot be mounted between the tracks so must be mounted on the 'wrong' side of the line or on expensive signal bridges. Frankfurt S-Bahn
The Rhine-Main S-Bahn system is an integrated rapid transit and commuter train system for the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region, which includes the cities Frankfurt am Main, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Offenbach am Main, Hanau and Darmstadt. Kelsterbach Station
Kelsterbach station is the station of the town of Kelsterbach in the German state of Hesse on the Main Railway (german: Mainbahn) from Mainz to Frankfurt. The station is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. History Kelsterbach station was built in 1863 at the intersection of the national roads to Mörfelden and Rüsselsheim, at the 23.8 km point of the Main Railway. Since the rail line was built north of the edge of the Kelsterbach fluvial terrace, it was well outside the centre of the village when it was opened. Frankfurt am Main Airport long-distance station (german: Frankfurt am Main Flughafen Fernbahnhof) is a railway station at Frankfurt Airport in Frankfurt, Germany. It is served by long-distance trains, mostly ICE services running on the Cologne–Frankfurt high-speed rail line. Frankfurt (Main) Airport regional station (german: Frankfurt (Main) Flughafen Regionalbahnhof) is an underground railway station at Frankfurt Airport in Frankfurt, Germany. It provides local S-Bahn and '' Regionalbahn'' services to the city and the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main Metropolitan Region. The station opened on 14 March 1972 together with a new passenger terminal (Terminal Mitte, now called Terminal 1).
