Frank Weyzig
Frank Weyzig is a Dutch producer, composer and band member known for his contribution to the original Clan of Xymox and his work for the indie new wave band, Born for Bliss. More recently, Weyzig has been involved with Vaselyne, White Rose Transmission and Stargazing Project. In January 2011, he founded Turmoil Music, a new music platform for independent artists. Music career Weyzig started his music career in 1985 with the Dutch electronic wave band Clan of Xymox when they were signed with the English independent label 4AD, which released their first album, ''Clan of Xymox'' that year. The track "7th Time" was picked up by John Peel, and led to the band recording two of the ''Peel Sessions'' at the BBC, in June and November 1985. Weyzig played guitar and keyboards on the album, and performed with the band on stage as a live guitarist and keyboard player until 1990. Chapman Stick
The Chapman Stick is an electric musical instrument devised by Emmett Chapman in the early 1970s. A member of the guitar family, the Chapman Stick usually has ten or twelve individually tuned strings and is used to play bass lines, melody lines, chords, or textures. Pieter Nooten
Pieter Nooten (born 22 January 1961 in Oss) is a Dutch musician and composer best known for his work with Clan of Xymox. Music career Nooten's musical career began in the late 1970s. Starting out as the drummer in a local symphonic rock band, he quickly changed to bass guitar and later keyboards, playing in different bands. At the height of house squatting culture and New wave music, new wave, Nooten met Anka Wolbert and Ronny Moorings who had just formed Clan of Xymox together. During the mid-eighties Clan of Xymox recorded two highly acclaimed albums on 4AD. In 1987, he teamed up with Michael Brook to record ''Sleeps with the Fishes'', released also on 4AD. This album would become Nooten's most acclaimed work. In 1989, Clan of Xymox (by then simply "Xymox") signed to Polygram and released their third album, ''Twist of Shadows''. The Sound (band)
The Sound were an English post-punk band, formed in South London in 1979 and dissolved in 1988. They were fronted by Adrian Borland, and evolved from his previous band, the Outsiders. While never commercially successful, the Sound have long been championed by critics. Background Beginnings The Sound were formed in South London in 1979 from the remnants of the punk band the Outsiders. The original lineup of the Sound consisted of Adrian Borland (vocals, guitar) and Graham Bailey (bass guitar), both ex-Outsiders, along with Mike Dudley (drums) and woodwinds player Bi Marshall (born Benita Biltoo). While not a member, ex-Outsider Adrian Janes would contribute ideas and co-write lyrics to the Sound's music. Adrian Borland
Adrian Kelvin Borland (6 December 1957 – 26 April 1999) was an English singer, songwriter, guitarist and record producer, best known as the frontman of post-punk band the Sound. Following a substantial musical career spanning numerous groups, as well as a solo career, he succumbed to symptoms of what is known as schizoaffective disorder, and committed suicide by jumping in front of a train on 26 April 1999. Early career Adrian Kelvin Borland was born in Hampstead, London, the son of Bob Borland, a physicist at the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington, London, and his wife Win, an English teacher. Love Like Blood (band)
Love Like Blood was a German gothic rock band. The band's name comes from the song of the same name by English post-punk band Killing Joke. Biography Its nucleus consists of the Eysel brothers Yorck (vocals, lyrics) and Gunnar ( bass). The band was active from 1989 to 2001 and is now on (indefinite) hiatus. Its early sound reminisces the style of Fields of the Nephilim. They made their breakthrough with the 1992 album ''An Irony of Fate'', which marked the debut of English guitarist Mark Wheeler. This album showcased a transition to a more hard rock-influenced style. In the mid-1990s, Love Like Blood turned to gothic metal with the album ''Exposure''. On their 2000 album, ''Enslaved + Condemned'', Love Like Blood made a rendition of Youssou N'Dour and Neneh Cherry's song " Seven Seconds", giving the pop song a more ragged, metal-oriented sound. Nuclear Blast is a record label and mail order record distributor with subsidiaries in Germany, the United States and Brazil. The label was founded in 1987 by Markus Staiger in Germany.
