Frank Watson (born July 26, 1945) is an American former politician. He was a Republican member of the Illinois Senate, representing the 51st district from 1983 to 2009, and served as Senate Republican Leader before he resigned that position in late 2008 for health reasons. He was Assistant Majority Leader from 1993 to 2002, and previously served as a State Representative from 1979 to 1982. Background Watson, a native of Greenville, Illinois, was born July 26, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy in 1968. In 1972, after becoming a registered pharmacist, he purchased his family's business, Watson's Drugstore, in Greenville. The Watson family had been operating the pharmacy in Greenville since 1881. Frank Howard Watson (born 24 March 1940) is a Bahamian civil servant and politician from Free National Movement. Early life The son of William and Olga (née Major) Watson, Watson was born in Long Island, Bahamas. Watson attended Government High School before joining the Customs Department. He served as Deputy Comptroller of Customs from 1969 to 1977. Political career In 1977 and 1982, he ran for election in the Carmichael Constituency. He was elected to office in 1982 and reelected in 1987. In 1992, he was elected as the Member of Parliament for Adelaide. Watson served in a number of Cabinet posts. Frank Bramley Watson (September 17, 1898 – February 1, 1976) was an English first-class cricketer from St Helens who played for Lancashire. One of Lancashire's most prolific batsman, Watson originally batted in the middle order before moving up to opener for the latter part of his career. He made 22,833 runs for the county, with a highest score of 300 not out In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. Frank Rushmore Watson (1859–1940) was a Philadelphia architect specializing in church architecture. He graduated from Central High School, Philadelphia, in 1877. Watson entered the office of Edwin Forrest Durang, an eminent architect concentrating on Roman Catholic church projects during the last quarter of the nineteenth century. Watson spent five years with Durang before establishing his own independent firm in 1882 or 1883. While not limiting his practice to Roman Catholic projects, Watson still became well known for his church designs. So successful was he that he opened a branch office in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1898. Sir Frank Watson Dyson, KBE, FRS, FRSE (8 January 1868 – 25 May 1939) was an English astronomer and the ninth Astronomer Royal who is remembered today largely for introducing time signals ("pips") from Greenwich, England, and for the role he played in proving Einstein's theory of general relativity. Biography Dyson was born in Measham, near Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, the son of the Rev Watson Dyson, a Baptist minister, and his wife, Frances Dodwell. The family lived on St John Street in Wirksworth while Frank was one- to three-years-old. They moved to Yorkshire in his youth.
