Franklin Leal Sullivan (January 23, 1930 – January 19, 2016), was an American professional baseball right-handed pitcher, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, and Minnesota Twins over parts of eleven seasons, spanning –. Sullivan was named to the American League (AL) All-Star team, in and , and was elected to the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame, in 2008. Sullivan was one of the tallest pitchers of his time, standing tall. After the season, the Red Sox traded him to the Phillies for another towering right-hander, -tall Gene Conley. Coincidentally, Conley had been the winning pitcher and Sullivan the loser of the 1955 All-Star Game. Frank Sullivan (basketball)
Frank Sullivan (born June 3, 1951) is an American former college men's basketball coach, currently serving as an Associate Commissioner at the America East Conference. The Lexington, Massachusetts native served as head coach at Bentley University from 1984 to 1991 and Harvard University from 1991 to 2007. He guided the Harvard Crimson to a 178–245 record over 16 seasons, never finishing higher than second in Ivy league play. On March 5, 2007, it was announced that he would not be returning as the coach of the Harvard Crimson for the 2007–2008 season. Sullivan is responsible for recruiting Houston Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin. Sullivan amassed a record of 114–86 at Bentley University in seven seasons. Prior to his time at Bentley, he held assistant coaching roles at Villanova Wildcats men's basketball, Villanova, Lehigh Mountain Hawks men's basketball, Lehigh and Seton Hall Pirates men's basketball, Seton Hall. Franklin Starbuck Sullivan (February 7, 1896 – September 30, 1972) was an American film editor. Biography Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Sullivan was the younger brother of C. Gardner Sullivan, a Hollywood screenwriter. He worked as an editor on such films as '' Fury'' (1936), ''Babes in Arms'' (1939), '' The Philadelphia Story'' (1940), and ''Woman of the Year'' (1942). He received an Academy Award nomination in 1948 for his work on ''Joan of Arc''. Sullivan was married to Doris Sullivan with whom he had two children. He died on September 30, 1972 Woodland Hills, Los Angeles at the age of 76. He is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills. He was the first Gordon F. Cheesbrough Research Chair in Family and Community Medicine at North York General Hospital, Canada. Life Sullivan was born in Saratoga Springs, New York, to Dennis and Catherine (Shea) Sullivan. and graduated from Cornell University in 1914. He worked for ''The Saratogian'' newspaper until he was drafted in 1917. Upon his discharge, Sullivan moved to New York City and worked for several papers as a reporter and feature writer. Sullivan wrote his first article for ''The New Yorker'' in 1925, the year it was founded. His most celebrated character, Mr. Arbuthnot, created in 1934, made his debut in the issue of August 31, 1935 in "The Cliche Expert Takes the Stand". Frank Joseph Sullivan (August 16, 1912 – June 14, 1956) was an American football player. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, he attended Father Ryan High School in Nashville and played college football for Loyola in New Orleans. He was selected as the center on Red Grange's All-America team as a senior. He then played professional football in the National Football League (NFL) for the Chicago Bears from 1935 to 1939 and for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1940. He appeared in 49 NFL games as a center and linebacker. After retiring from football, Sullivan worked for E.I. duPond de Nemour' nitro-cellulose plant in Indiana.
