Frank Sheehan
Francis Xavier Sheehan (1933 – December 17, 2013) was a Canadian politician. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1995 to 1999. Background Sheehan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor. He served as the president of Sheehan & Rosie, Insurance Brokers and was the chairman and co-founder of the Wayside House and Wayside Community Residential Centre. Sheehan was also a co-founder of the right-wing Taxpayers Coalition of Ontario. He was married for 54 years to Diane and father of 7 children. Politics In 1970, he was elected as a trustee to the Lincoln County Separate School Board. Steve Gilchrist (born July 7, 1954) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. Elizabeth Witmer (née Gosar; born October 16, 1946) is a former Deputy Premier of Ontario, Canada. In Canadian labour law, the Rand formula (also referred to as ''automatic check-off'' and ''compulsory checkoff'') is a workplace compromise arising from jurisprudence struck between organized labour (trade unions) and employers that guarantees employers industrial stability by requiring all workers affected by a collective agreement to pay dues to the union by mandatory deduction in exchange for the union agreement to "work now, grieve later." The 1999 Ontario general election was held on June 3, 1999 to elect members of the 37th Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, Canada. The governing Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, led by Premier Mike Harris, was re-elected to a second majority government. Backbench
In Westminster and other parliamentary systems, a backbencher is a member of parliament (MP) or a legislator who occupies no governmental office and is not a frontbench spokesperson in the Opposition, being instead simply a member of the "rank and file". The term dates from 1855. The term derives from the fact that they sit physically behind the frontbench in the House of Commons. A backbencher may be a new parliamentary member yet to receive high office, a senior figure dropped from government, someone who for whatever reason is not chosen to sit in the government or an opposition spokesperson (such as a shadow cabinet if one exists), or someone who prefers to be a background influence, not in the spotlight. By extension, those who are not reliable supporters of all of their party's goals and policies and have resigned or been forced to resign may be relegated to the back benches.
