Frank Roman (actor)
Frank Roman (March 3, 1877 in Italy – December 19, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia) was a musician, composer, and band director of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Marching Band at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1913 to 1928. He is most known for his arrangement of Georgia Tech's fight song, Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech, which he copyrighted in 1919. Georgia Tech Roman was Georgia Tech's first professional band leader, succeeding Robert L. Bidez. He came to Tech in 1913 to play piccolo in the band, and became the director the next fall. He continued until his death on December 19, 1928. He wrote Tech's Alma Mater, as well as the arrangements for Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech, Ramblin' Wreck and Georgia Tech traditions#Up With the White and Gold, Up With the White and Gold. In music, an arrangement is a musical adaptation of an existing composition. Differences from the original composition may include reharmonization, melodic paraphrasing, orchestration, or formal development. Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity (, colloquially referred to as KKPsi), is a fraternity for college and university band members in the United States. It was founded on November 27, 1919, on Thanksgiving Day, at Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College, now known as Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Kappa Kappa Psi primarily operates as a recognition society providing service, leadership opportunities, and social programming for band members. Georgia Tech Traditions
Numerous Georgia Tech legends and traditions have been established since the school's opening in 1888, some of which have persisted for decades. Over time, the school has grown from a trade school into a large research university, and the traditions reflect that heritage. One of the cherished holdovers from Tech's early years, a steam whistle blows every weekday at various times to mark the changing of classes. It's for this reason that the faculty newspaper is named ''The Whistle''. Some of the traditions are well-known, the most notable being the now-banned tradition of stealing the "T" from Tech Tower. The Technique
The ''Technique'', also known as the "''Nique''", is the official student newspaper of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, and has referred to itself as "the South's liveliest college newspaper" since 1945. As of the fall semester of 2011, the ''Technique'' has a weekly circulation of 10,000, distributed to numerous locations on the Georgia Tech campus and a handful of locations in the surrounding area. The first issue of the ''Technique'' was published on November 17, 1911, and the paper has printed continuously since its founding.
