Frank Roberts (Australian Politician)
Frank Edwards Roberts (28 February 1913 – 7 June 1992) was an Australian politician. He was Lord Mayor of Brisbane from 1952 to 1955, and was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 1947 to 1956, representing the electorate of Nundah. As with his predecessor as Mayor, John Beals Chandler, he was simultaneously Lord Mayor and a state MP. He represented Labor from 1947 to 1953 before resigning from the party; he was defeated for re-election as an independent for Lord Mayor in 1955 and as an MP in 1956. Roberts was born in Melbourne, but was raised on a farm in the Mallee region of Victoria, and did not attend school until age nine due to the isolation. His family moved to Queensland during the Great Depression, and settled in Ashgrove. Sir Frank Kenyon Roberts (27 October 1907 – 7 January 1998) was a British diplomat who played a key role in developing Anglo-Soviet and Anglo-German relations from the 1940s to the 1960s.. Biography Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where his parents worked for Lever Brothers, Roberts was the grandson of the filmmaker James Kenyon, of Mitchell and Kenyon fame. Roberts' father, Henry George, hailed from the Lancashire town of Preston, and was from a middle-class background of lawyers, doctors and engineers. His mother, Gertrude (daughter of James Kenyon), was from nearby Blackburn and was more working-class. Roberts lived Southport, Rishton and Accrington (all in Lancashire) after 1914. Frank Roberts (Australian Footballer)
Frank George Roberts (27 February 1912 – 26 June 1989) was an Australian rules footballer who played for St Kilda and Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). While at St Kilda Roberts played as a forward, kicking 24 goals in his debut season and another 20 the following year. He spent 1935 playing back home at Sandhurst and in 1936 returned to the league with Melbourne. Francis Roy "Frank" Roberts (5 March 1945 – 7 February 2011) was an Aboriginal Australian boxer who competed at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics in the welterweight division. "Honest Frank", as he was known, was the first Aboriginal Australian athlete to gain selection, and one of the first Indigenous Australians (along with boxer Adrian Blair and basketballer Michael Ah Matt) to participate in the Olympic Games. He was also the youngest boxer on the Australian boxing team. Frank Roberts (3 April 1893 – 23 May 1961) was an English professional footballer who played for Manchester City between 1922 and 1928. He could play either as an inside forward or a centre forward. Early life Roberts was born in Sandbach and began his football career playing for Sandbach Villa and Sandbach Ramblers. He was transferred to Crewe Alexandra and in 1914 Bolton Wanderers paid £200 for his services. Roberts guested for West Ham United during World War I, scoring 18 goals in 19 appearances between 1917 and 1919. He also guested for Brentford. Roberts was suspended and transfer-listed by Bolton during the 1922–23 season 'for taking over one of the principal hotels in that town'. He scored 80 goals in 168 appearances for the club. Frank Roberts (model Maker)
Frank Roberts (22 January 1882–26 June 1963) was a New Zealand pioneer in building model railways. His models were extremely accurate and reflected the history of the New Zealand railways. Early career Roberts spent his early career working for New Zealand Railways Department (NZR) as a cleaner, fireman and driver before becoming a partner in an electrical firm with his brother Jack. In 1903 Roberts built his first model which was of the WA class steam locomotive using a scale of 1:19. In 1926 Roberts joined the Auckland Model Engineering Society and began building his first garden railway. Using 1¾ inch gauge track, Roberts, his brother George and W. W. Cubawee
Tuncester, formerly known as Tunstall, is a locality within the City of Lismore local government area in New South Wales, Australia. It lies around outside the main town of Lismore. It is known for its historical self-managed Aboriginal reserve known as Cubawee, which was led by Pastor Frank Roberts for most of its existence (1932–1965). Tuncester lies on the traditional lands of the Bundjalung people, who inhabited the Richmond River area before European settlers arrived in the 1840s. It was named Tunstall after Tunstall Station, a pastoral lease taken up by amateur naturalist Augustus Adolphus Leycester and his business partner Robert Shaw in 1843, where they grazed cattle. Rhoda Roberts
Rhoda Ann Roberts (born 1960) is an Australian theatre and arts director, arts executive, television presenter, and actor. She was head of Indigenous programming at the Sydney Opera House from 2012 until 2021, among many other roles. She is also a highly respected Aboriginal elder, being afforded the title "Aunty" (Aunty Rhoda).
