Frank Opperman (South African Actor)
Frank Opperman (born 8 June 1960) is a South African actor and musician. After attending numerous schools across South Africa in Worcester, Benoni, Hermanus and Middelburg. Opperman finally matriculated from Silverton High School in Pretoria in 1978. Career Born in Johannesburg, Opperman started studying law in 1979 at the University of Pretoria but soon lost interest and joined the South African Defence Force in 1980, where he played in an army marching band. Upon leaving the service, he dated a female drama student and became interested in acting as a career option. He subsequently obtained a three-year national diploma in acting at the Pretoria Technikon and received the Pretoria Trust Award for best student. The following two years he worked for PACT (Performing Arts Council Transvaal) and acted in productions such as ''Spring awakening'' and ''Caspar in my tuin''. Dana Snyman
Dana Snyman is a South African journalist, writer and playwright. Snyman was born in Stellenbosch and matriculated from Nylstroom High School. He later followed a journalism course at the Pretoria Technikon before joining the Afrikaans newspaper Beeld as a crime reporter. Three years later he became a journalist at Huisgenoot magazine, where he worked for ten years. As of 2007, Snyman is the travel editor of Weg! magazine. His first book, ''Uit die binneland'' (From the country) was published in 2005 and his second, ''Anderkant die scrap'' (The other side of the scrap), in 2006. Both are collected short-short stories and schetches. Snyman's first play, the one-man comedy ''Die Uwe, Pottie Potgieter '' (Yours Truly, Pottie Potgieter), was first performed in 2006 by Frank Opperman and was the runner-up for the AngloGold Ashanti/Aardklop-Smeltkroes Award for new texts in the same year. The Bassline (club)
The Bassline is a popular music venue and club in Johannesburg, South Africa. The original Bassline, established in 1994 in the Melville neighborhood of Johannesburg, closed in 2003, only to reopen in Newtown. As well as being popular among young residents of the city, the Bassline became an important stage for some of the hottest Jazz musicians in South Africa. Many popular albums were recorded live at the Bassline, and the record company of the same name became a fixture in the Johannesburg music scene.
