Frank Nolan (10 June 1915 – 31 May 1989) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. The Hawthorn Football Club, nicknamed the Hawks, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Mulgrave, Victoria, that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. The Federal Football League was an Australian rules football competition in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, that was in existence from 1909 to 1981. It was regarded as one of the strongest metropolitan leagues in Melbourne and in the 1960s and it is said that Channel Seven were seeking to telecast league games on a Sunday.
