Frank Messina
Frank Messina (born ) is an American poet, author and performance artist. Among his four published works, Messina is the author of ''Full Count: The Book of Mets Poetry'', a 2009 work that focused on baseball fanaticism. His 2002 book, ''Disorderly Conduct'', focused on reactions to the September 11 terrorist attacks and is based on his experience as a volunteer for three days at Liberty State Park assisting rescue workers at Ground Zero. He has performed on stage with musicians such as members of Phish, the Spin Doctors and Sun Ra Arkestra and composer David Amram. On September 11, 2011, Messina performed his poem, "Bicycle", at Symphony Space in New York City to mark the tenth anniversary of the attacks, and was accompanied by Amram on piano. A fan and season ticket holder of the New York Mets, Messina attends games wearing a replica team jersey emblazoned with "The Poet" on the back of the jersey. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum (also known as the 9/11 Memorial & Museum) is a memorial and museum in New York City commemorating the September 11 attacks of 2001, which killed 2,977 people, and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six. Graig Nettles (born August 20, 1944), nicknamed "Puff", is an American former Major League Baseball third baseman. During a 22-year baseball career, he played for the Minnesota Twins (1967–1969), Cleveland Indians (1970–1972), New York Yankees (1973–1983), San Diego Padres (1984–1986), Atlanta Braves (1987), and Montreal Expos (1988). Nettles was one of the best defensive third basemen of all time, and despite his relatively low career batting average, he was an excellent offensive contributor, particularly in clutch moments with players in scoring position. Catfish Hunter
James Augustus Hunter (April 8, 1946 – September 9, 1999), nicknamed "Catfish", was a professional baseball player in Major League Baseball (MLB). From to , he was a pitcher for the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees. Hunter was the first pitcher since to win 200 games by age 31. He is often referred to as baseball's first big-money free agent, and was a member of five World Series championship teams. Hunter retired at age 33 following the 1979 season, after developing persistent arm problems, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987. He was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, in his early 50s, and died of the disease about a year after his diagnosis.
