Frank Mazzilli
Frank Mazzilli (born December 7, 1962) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1999 to 2003. Background Mazzilli has a diploma from the Ontario Police College, and worked as a member of the police force in London, Ontario from 1982 to 1999. Politics In the federal election of 1997 he ran as a Progressive Conservative candidate in the riding of London West, but lost to Liberal Sue Barnes by almost 14,000 votes. He was elected to the Ontario legislature for the riding of London—Fanshawe in the provincial election of 1999, defeating Liberal Peter Mancini and New Democrat Irene Mathyssen in a close three-way race. In 2002, he served as a co-chair of the Ontario Crime Control Commission. The 2004 Canadian federal election was held on June 28, 2004, to elect members to the House of Commons of Canada of the 38th Parliament of Canada. The Liberal government of Prime Minister Paul Martin lost its majority but was able to continue in office as a minority government after the election. This was the first election contested by the newly amalgamated Conservative Party of Canada, after it was formed by the two right-of-centre parties, the Progressive Conservative Party and the Canadian Alliance. Irene R. Mathyssen (born August 16, 1951) is a Canadian politician and was a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons of Canada from 2006 until 2019. She was previously a New Democratic Party Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) in Ontario from 1990 to 1995, and briefly served as a minister in the government of Premier Bob Rae. Background Mathyssen was educated at the University of Western Ontario from 1970 to 1975, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Drama, and a Bachelor of Education degree. She taught English at Saunders Secondary School in London, Ontario, until 2006 except for a five-year break between 1990 and 1995 when she was an MPP.
