Frank Lucas (Wyoming Politician)
Franklin Earl Lucas (August 4, 1876 – November 26, 1948) was an American businessman and politician from Wyoming. A Republican, he is most notable for his service as the 13th governor of Wyoming from 1924 until 1925. Lucas served as Secretary of State of Wyoming from 1923 to 1927, an office to which he was elected after previously serving in the Wyoming House of Representatives and Wyoming Senate. Biography Lucas was born in Grant City, Missouri on August 4, 1876. He was raised and educated in Bedford, Iowa, and left school after the eighth grade to begin training for a career in journalism as a printer's apprentice. After completing his apprentice ship and working for two Iowa newspapers, in 1899 he moved to Buffalo, Wyoming, where he became owner and publisher of the ''Buffalo Bulletin''. Bedford, Iowa
Bedford is a city in Taylor County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,508 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Taylor County. Lake of Three Fires State Park is located a few miles northeast of Bedford. History The community is believed to have gotten its name from Thomas J. Bedford, who was the first west bound Pony Express rider to deliver the mail on its final leg from Benicia, California to Oakland, California on April 23, 1861. Bedford is believed to have operated Bedfords Store and Trading Post in 1848 within the city limits. He moved to California later that year, in the California Gold Rush. The community was called "Grove" when a post office was established on June 30, 1855. On June 24, 1856 it was changed to Bedford. The 1934 Wyoming gubernatorial election took place on November 6, 1934. Incumbent Democratic Governor Leslie A. Miller ran for re-election to his second term, and his first full term, following his initial election in the 1932 special election. Miller faced Republican Alonzo M. Frank Emerson
Frank Collins Emerson (May 26, 1882February 18, 1931) was an American engineer and politician from Wyoming. He was most notable for his service as the 15th Governor of Wyoming from January 3, 1927, until his death. Biography Frank C. Emerson was born in Saginaw, Michigan on May 26, 1882. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1904 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. After graduating from college, Emerson relocated to Cora, Wyoming, where he became chief engineer of the Wyoming Land and Irrigation Company. He later worked for other corporations, including the Big Horn Canal Association, Lower Hanover Canal Association, Wyoming Sugar Company, and Worland Drainage District. From 1919 to 1926, Emerson served as Wyoming State Engineer. In this post, Emerson was one of the main proponents of the Colorado River Compact. In 1923, Governor William B.
