Frankie Howerd
Francis Alick Howard (6 March 1917 – 19 April 1992), better known by his stage-name Frankie Howerd, was an English actor and comedian. Early life Howerd was born the son of soldier Francis Alfred William (1887–1934)England & Wales, Death Index: 1916–2005 and Edith Florence Howard (née Morrison, 1888–1962), at the City Hospital in York, England, in 1917 (not 1922 as he later claimed). His mother worked at the Rowntree's chocolate factory. For his first two and a half years, Howerd lived in a terraced house at 53, Hartoft Street. He described it as "a poorish area of the city near the River Ouse". He later said he had only one memory of living in York and that was of falling down the stairs, an experience which left him with a life-long dread of heights. He returned to York on many occasions for family holidays, however, and later in life spoke of his fondness for the city. Frank Oliver Howard (born August 8, 1936), nicknamed "Hondo", "The Washington Monument" and "The Capitol Punisher", is an American former player, coach and manager in Major League Baseball who played most of his career for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Senators/ Texas Rangers franchises. One of the most physically intimidating players in the sport, the Howard would typically tip the scales at between 275 and 290 pounds, according to former Senators/Rangers trainer Bill Zeigler. Howard was named the National League's Rookie of the Year in , and went on to twice lead the American League in home runs and total bases and in slugging percentage, runs batted in and walks once each. Frank Leslie Howard (June 11, 1903 – January 11, 1997) was a prominent American mycologist. Biography Frank L. Howard was born on June 11, 1903, in Los Angeles and died on January 11, 1997. He lived 93 years. His parents were George W. and Henrietta Howard. In 1925, he studied at the Oregon State University and received a bachelor's degree in science. During his bachelor's degree he had positive influence from plant mycologist Howard Barss and he had an interest in plant pathology and mycology. He received a PhD degree in mycology from the University of Iowa in 1930. The title of his doctoral research was "The Life History of ''Physarum polycephalum''" (Howard, 1931) with George Willard Martin as his advisor. Howard married Dorothy Lee, who supported him in his main activities as a researcher. She and his daughter died before him. Frank Ernest Howard (1888, Headington, Oxfordshire – 1934, Oxford) was an English architect who worked exclusively in the area of ecclesiastical furnishings and fittings. He was a pupil of Sir Ninian Comper and carried out much of his work under the auspices of the Warham Guild. He published several books and articles on medieval ecclesiastical architecture and church furnishings which continue to be regarded as authoritative. He was trained in art by his father and as a student of the Royal Academy. He became an assistant of Sir Thomas Lawrence and exhibited at the British Institution from 1824 to 1843 and at the Royal Academy in 1825, when he sent 'Othello and Desdemona' and three portraits, and he continued to exhibit portraits and Shakespearean and poetical subjects until 1833. Hamilton Howard "Albert" Fish (May 19, 1870 – January 16, 1936) was an American serial killer, Rape, rapist, child molestation, child molester, and cannibalism, cannibal who committed at least three child murders from July 1924 to June 1928. He was also known as the Gray Man, the Werewolf of Wysteria, the Brooklyn Vampire, the Moon Maniac, and The Boogey Man. Fish was a suspect in at least five murders during his lifetime. He confessed to three murders that police were able to trace to a known homicide, and he confessed to stabbing at least two other people. Fish once boasted that he "had children in every state", and at one time stated his number of victims was about 100. However, it is not known whether he was referring to rapes or cannibalization, nor is it known if the statement was truthful. Francis Henry Howard (30 January 1931 – 11 October 2007) was an English professional footballer who scored 26 goals from 200 Football League appearances playing at outside left for Brighton & Hove Albion. Life and career Howard was born in 1931 in Acton, Middlesex. A pacy left winger who had been a sprinter in his youth, Howard joined Brighton & Hove Albion from Guildford City in 1950. By the mid-1950s, he had established himself in the team, partnering Denis Foreman on the left of the attack, and in the 1957–58 season, he missed only five matches as Albion were promoted to the Second Division. Frank Key Howard (October 25, 1826 – May 29, 1872) (also cited as Francis Key Howard) was the grandson of Francis Scott Key and Revolutionary War colonel John Eager Howard. Howard was the editor of the '' Daily Exchange'', a Baltimore newspaper sympathetic to the Confederacy. He was arrested without a warrant just after midnight on September 13, 1861 at his home by U.S. Major General Nathaniel Prentice Banks on the direct orders of General George B. McClellan enforcing the policy of President Abraham Lincoln. (In his book he writes that he was told by the arresting officer that the order had come from Secretary of State William Seward.) Frank J. Howard (March 25, 1909 – January 26, 1996) was an American college football player and coach. He played college football for Alabama. After a career-ending injury, Howard joined the staff at Clemson College and became head coach in 1940. Howard coached the Clemson Tigers for 30 years, amassing the 15th most wins of any college football coach. He led Clemson to ten bowl games, an undefeated season in 1948, and several top-20 rankings during his tenure as head coach. During his stay at Clemson, Howard also oversaw the athletic department, ticket sales, and was an assistant coach for the baseball team. Frank Alden "Frankie" Howard (December 1, 1938July 26, 2020) was an American law enforcement officer and politician who served as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2008 to 2020. Prior to his service in the state legislature, he served as the deputy sheriff in Vernon Parish, Louisiana, and later as sheriff from 1976 to 2000. Howard was born in Hornbeck, Louisiana, and received his education at the National Sheriffs' Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles and Louisiana State University during the 1970s. He entered politics with his appointment as Town Marshal of Hornbeck to fill the vacancy created by his father's death and later his appointment as deputy sheriff. In 1976, he won election as the Vernon Parish, Louisiana which he would serve as until 2000.
