Frank Friday Fletcher (November 23, 1855 – November 28, 1928) was a United States Navy admiral who served in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was awarded the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions as commander of navy forces at the Battle of Veracruz, Mexico. The , the most produced class of United States Navy destroyers, was named after him. He was also the uncle of Frank Jack Fletcher, another U.S. Navy Admiral who also received the Medal of Honor for actions at Veracruz, and who commanded U.S. naval forces at the battles of Coral Sea and Midway during the Second World War. Frank Jack Fletcher (April 29, 1885 – April 25, 1973) was an admiral in the United States Navy during World War II. Fletcher commanded five different task forces through WWII; he was the operational task force commander at the pivotal battles of the Coral Sea and Midway, which collectively resulted in the sinking of six Japanese fleet carriers. In 1914, then Lieutenant Fletcher was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in the battle at Veracruz. He was the nephew of Admiral Frank Friday Fletcher, who was also awarded the Medal of Honor for actions at Veracruz. Early life and early Navy career Fletcher was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on April 29, 1885. Frank Morley Fletcher (1866–1949), often referred to as F. Morley Fletcher, was a British painter and printmaker known primarily for his role in introducing Japanese colored woodcut printing as an important genre in Western art. Frank Fletcher was educated at the University of London followed by work at St John's Wood Art School and in the studio of Hubert Vos. He continued his art studies in Paris at the atelier of Fernand Cormon in 1888. There his exposure to the Japanese colour woodblock print led to a career in teaching and development of the subject. A student of his was the fellow woodblock print exponent, Allen W. Seaby He influenced the woodcut artist Eric Slater, the botanical artist Lilian Snelling. Fletcher taught in London and Reading schools, and from 1907 to 1923 was director of the Edinburgh College of Art, where the printmaker Helen Stevenson was among his pupils. Frank Fletcher Hamilton (3 April 1921 – 1 February 2008) was a Progressive Conservative member for Swift Current—Maple Creek of the House of Commons between 1972 and 1984. Early life Hamilton attended school in Ford County, Saskatchewan, then secondary school at Mazenod, then the University of Saskatchewan. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1940 to 1951. Political career He began his venture into politics in 1945 by representing the Progressive Conservative in the 1945 Canadian federal election and the 1953 Canadian federal election. Francis Fletcher (March 1, 1814 – October 7, 1871) was a prominent pioneer of the U.S. state of Oregon and a member of the Peoria Party.Dobbs Biography Born in Allerston, Yorkshire, England, he immigrated with his parents, William and Mary Fletcher and four brothers, to Nassagaweya Township, Ontario, Canada in 1825. Moving as a young man to Peoria, Illinois he joined the Oregon Dragoons and traveled overland on what was to become the Oregon Trail, arriving in the Willamette Valley of Oregon in 1840. There he took a Donation Land Claim along the Yamhill River adjacent to his lifelong friend and fellow dragoon Amos Cook.
