Frank Donovan (footballer)
Francis James Donovan (26 February 1919 – 17 April 2003) was a Welsh footballer who represented Great Britain at the 1948 Summer Olympics. Donovan played amateur football with Milford United, Haverfordwest and Pembroke Borough, where he captained them to promotion in 1947–48 and was selected for the 1948 Great Britain Olympic squad. He joined the English Football League for Swansea Town, signing for the club in July 1950. He rejoined Pembroke Borough in July 1951 helping them win the Welsh Football League The Welsh Football League (also known as the Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh Football League for sponsorship reasons) was a club football league in Wales. For its final season in 2019–20 season it operated at levels 3 and 4 of the Welsh football leagu ... double in the 1953–54 season. He subsequently managed Pembroke Borough and Milford United. Frank Donovan (politician)
Francis Anthony "Frank" Donovan (born 28 January 1947) is a former Australian politician who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1987 to 1993. A Vietnam veteran, Donovan worked as a social worker before entering politics. He was a member of the Labor Party until 1991, when he resigned to sit as an independent. Early life Donovan was born in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, England, to Cecelia Mary (née Fletcher) and James Francis Donovan. In 1964, after leaving school, he moved to Australia and enlisted in the Australian Army. He served a tour of duty with the 5th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment during the Vietnam War, and on his return was posted to the Balmoral Naval Hospital in Sydney as a welfare officer. Donovan left the army in 1969, and moved to Western Australia the following year.
