Frank Charles (baseball)
Franklin Scott Charles (born February 23, 1969) is a former professional baseball catcher. He played part of one season in Major League Baseball for the Houston Astros in 2000. Amateur career A native of Fontana, California, Charles attended Montclair College Preparatory School and Cal State Fullerton. In 1989 and 1990, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Pinch Hitter
In baseball, a pinch hitter is a substitute Batting (baseball), batter. Batters can be substituted at any time while the dead ball (baseball), ball is dead (not in active play); the manager (baseball), manager may use any player who has not yet entered the game as a substitute. Northern League (baseball, 1993–2010)
The Northern League was an independent minor professional baseball league. It was not affiliated with Major League Baseball or the organized minor leagues. The league was founded in 1993 and folded after its 2010 season when financial stability became a problem. The three teams remaining in the league when it folded joined with the remaining teams in United League Baseball and the Golden Baseball League to form a new independent organization called the North American League.
