Frank Brown (governor)
Frank Brown (August 8, 1846 – February 3, 1920), a member of the United States Democratic Party, was the 42nd Governor of Maryland in the United States from 1892 to 1896. Born in 1846 in Sykesville, Maryland, he also served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1876 to 1878. He died in 1920 in Baltimore, Maryland. Brown was employed early on by the R. Sinclair & Co. Later he worked as a clerk in the State tobacco warehouse from 1870 to 1875. In 1880, he became the President of the Maryland State Agricultural & Mechanical Society. From 1886 to 1890 Brown was assigned to be the Postmaster of Baltimore. For the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 Brown was the President of Board of Managers in Maryland. Later in life he served as the President of the Baltimore Traction Company. Frank Brown (entertainer)
Frank Brown (6 September 1858 Brighton, England – 9 April 1943, Buenos Aires, Argentina) was a clown, acrobat and circus entrepreneur with a long career in Argentina, where he was known as ''El Payaso Inglés'' (''The English Clown)''. Career Coming from a circus family where both his father and grandfather had been clowns, Brown performed acrobatics and clowning from childhood, and was part of tours to Moscow and Mexico. He arrived in Buenos Aires in 1884 when he was around 26 and worked in the Brothers Carlo circus. He took the name ''Pepino el 88'' while performing with the ''criollo'' clown, José Podestá. After an accident in 1893 he only performed as a clown. In 1910 he was part of a performance to celebrate the Argentine centenary, but the tent was destroyed by arson. Frank Brown (born 1952/1953) is an American sports journalist and former National Hockey League (NHL) communications executive. During his career, Brown has worked for the ''New York Daily News,'' ''The Associated Press,'' and the NHL as a communications executive. After retiring in 2018, Brown was awarded the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award by the Hockey Hall of Fame. Career Brown published his first paid hockey article in a 1970 New York Rangers game program for $50 from the Rangers public relations director. From there, he began his career as a journalist for The Associated Press, typically covering the Montreal Canadiens. Francis Harold Brown (October 24, 1943 – September 30, 2017) was an American geologist and geochemist who mapped the sedimentary sequence and geology of most of the Turkana Basin in Kenya, east Africa. Brown introduced single-crystal argon-argon and potassium-argon dating into the Turkana Basin, resolving disputes over the age of '' Kenyanthropus platyops'' and other fossils. Early life Brown was born in Willits, California, to Vivien Clarice Jameson Brown and carpenter and viticulturist Francis Edward Brown. As an undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley, he studied chemistry, Latin and linguistics, rowed, and spent one obligatory year in the ROTC. Brown ultimately chose to pursue studies in geology and acquired his BA in 1965. He opposed the Vietnam war but reported to his draft board when he realized he had failed to register.
