Frank Barton (English Footballer)
Frank Barton (born 22 October 1947) is an English retired footballer who played as a midfielder during the 1960s and 1970s. Barton also gained international honours with England Youth team playing for his country in 5 international games in which he scored the first goal of a 3–0 victory over Spain at Swindon in 1966. He also obtained his English Football Association Full Coaching Certification in 1968 at the Lilleshall Training Centre. He went on to play for Seattle Sounders of the North American Soccer League from 1979 until 1982. He also played indoor soccer for Seattle, the Wichita Wings and the Tacoma Stars. In 1994, Barton became an assistant coach with the Seattle Sounders in the American Professional Soccer League. Barton-upon-Humber
Barton-upon-Humber () or Barton is a town and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England. The population at the 2011 census was 11,066. It is situated on the south bank of the Humber Estuary at the southern end of the Humber Bridge. It is south-west of Kingston upon Hull and north north-east of the county town of Lincoln. Other nearby towns include Scunthorpe to the south-west and Grimsby to the south-east. Geography Barton is on the south bank of the Humber Estuary and is at the southern end of the Humber Bridge. American Professional Soccer League
The American Professional Soccer League (APSL) was a professional men's soccer league with teams from the United States and later Canada. It was formed in 1990 by the merger of the third American Soccer League with the Western Soccer League. It was the first outdoor soccer league to feature teams from throughout the United States since the demise of the North American Soccer League in 1984. The league was sanctioned as Division II in the United States soccer league system but was the country's ''de facto'' top professional soccer league until 1995. In 1993, the APSL applied for the vacant Division I role but lost out to Major League Soccer who would begin play in 1996. For its final two seasons in 1995 and 1996, the APSL changed its name to the A-League. It was subsequently absorbed by the emerging USISL organization with six of seven clubs joining the new USISL A-League in 1997. Seattle Sounders Football Club is an American professional men's soccer club based in Seattle. The Sounders compete as a member of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS).
