Frank Bare, Jr.
Frank Bare Jr. is an American Freestyle skiing, freestyle skier. Bare was one of the sport's innovators and trained using a trampoline as well as on the aerials water ramps. In 1983, at Donner Ski Ranch, California, Bare performed the first quadruple somersault on skis. He did a triple twisting quadrupole back flip and did not wear a helmet. For nearly 20 years, no other skier performed a quadruple somersault onto snow. Bare's father, Frank Bare Sr., was a notable American gymnastics executive. Freestyle skiing is a skiing discipline comprising aerials, Mogul Skiing, moguls, Ski Cross, cross, Half-pipe skiing, half-pipe, slopestyle and big air as part of the Freestyle skiing at the Winter Olympics, Winter Olympics. Water ramps into oversized pools, ponds, or lakes are constructed as training locations for aerial skiing, mogul skiing, and snowboarding acrobatics events. Such structures typically comprise three sections: in-run, a kicker, and a water surface for landing. They permit the practice of new skills with reduced risk, as the impact of a water landing is less dangerous than a comparable impact on compacted snow. Donner Ski Ranch
Donner Ski Ranch is a budget-oriented, family owned ski area located on Donner Summit in the Tahoe National Forest of Nevada County, California. It is owned by Janet and Marshall Tuttle, who purchased it after it went into bankruptcy. The area it is on has been used for skiing since 1937.
