Francoeur
''Francoeur'' was a Canadian television series, first aired by TFO in 2003. It was the first Franco-Ontarian téléroman. The series has produced 44 episodes to date. The series revolves around the Francoeurs, a Franco-Ontarian family in Eastern Ontario running a family farm. Written by Guy Boutin and directed by Derek Diorio, it was created and produced by Robert Charbonneau (who would later create TFO's first sitcom, '' Météo+''). The series has also aired on Télévision de Radio-Canada across the country. Roch Castonguay is a Canadian film and television actor, who starred in the television shows ''Francoeur'' and sitcom '' Météo+''. Early life Castonguay is from Prescott and Russell Counties, Ontario. In 1979, he founded the Théâtre de la Vieille, with Jean Marc Dalpé, Robert Bellefeuille, and Lise L. Roy. In 2005, he performed ''Une Saison en enfer''. In 2007, he appeared in ''L'homme invisible''. Franco-Ontarians (french: Franco-Ontariens or if female, sometimes known as ''Ontarois'' and ''Ontaroises'') are Francophone Canadians that reside in the province of Ontario. Most are French Canadians from Ontario. In 2016, the Government of Ontario calculated that there are approximately 622,415 francophones residing in the province. The majority of Franco-Ontarians in the province reside in Eastern Ontario, Northeastern Ontario, and Central Ontario, although small francophone communities may be found in other regions of the province. A téléroman ("telenovel" or ''annual drama series'') is a genre of French-language drama television series in Canada, similar to a soap opera or a Spanish language telenovela. In France, the ''téléroman'' genre is known as feuilleton télévisé (similar to a serial). ''Téléromans'' are one of the most popular television series formats in Québécois culture and are also shown on French television. In Canada, all of the major francophone television networks air ''téléromans'', including the public broadcaster Radio-Canada, which broadcasts them nationally, and the private networks TVA and Noovo. Derek Diorio
Derek Diorio is a Canadian writer, director, producer, and actor. Derek Diorio arrived in Ottawa from Montreal in the mid-seventies to attend Carleton University. Within four years he had dropped out of Carleton but had picked up a valuable education at CKCU-FM, Carleton's campus radio station, where he acquired a taste for broadcast media and entertainment as well as an appreciation of the vast talent available in Ottawa. It was at CKCU that he developed a desire to create and be part of an Ottawa entertainment scene. Between 1979 and 1999 he co-founded Sound Venture Productions, the Ottawa Improv League, the Skit Row comedy troupe, the Skit Row Comedy Club, The Creative Block, Diorio Production, and Distinct Features Inc.
